Hope When There Is No Hope

Isaiah is prophesying that there will be e redeemer that comes for the stump of Jesse. Jesse is king David’s dad. David’s Monarch would be the strongest Israel would ever know. He was also promised by God that His throne would last forever. 2 Samuel 7:12-16
2 Samuel 7:12–16 NASB95
“When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. “He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. “I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men, but My lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. “Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”
This is a promise from God that the throne of David would have a throne of his kingdom forever.
However we see that this did not appear to be the case from a human standpoint. About 100 years after Isaiah wrote this both Israel and Judah were captured and the temple was destroyed. Israel fell to the Assyrians and Judah fell to the Babylonians in 587 BC. For all intensive purposes the Davidic Monarch had come to an end. But God promised a re-emergence of the kingdom. This would be Jesus Christ. He would establish the throne of the kingdom forever. He has done this. How do we know? Because Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
1 Timothy 6:14–16 NASB95
that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.
Though David would not be alive to witness the fulfillment of this prophecy, God was faithful to fulfill it and now David is able to see how much greater the promise of God is.

Jesus Is Our Hope

This world that we live in is only temporary. Whether you live the greatest or worse life here on earth, you only have it for 70-100 years. Relative to the promise of eternal life, this is trivial. However the decision you make about Jesus in this life determines your eternity.
John 3:16 NASB95
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Your decision about Jesus determines whether you perish for all eternity or have eternal life. If you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died on a cross to pay your sin debt, on the third day rose from the dead, and one day will return, you will receive eternal life.
1 Corinthians 15:3–8 NASB95
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.
What is your hope in? Why Should it be in Christ?

The Spirit Of The Lord Will Rest On Him

We see at Jesus baptism this prophecy was fulfilled. Matthew 3:16-17
Matthew 3:16–17 NASB95
After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
We see here that the Holy Spirit rested on Jesus as He came up out of the water. The Holy Spirit remained with Jesus during his entire life.

Wisdom & Understanding (Omniscience)

The Wisdom that Christ has is from the Father. It goes beyond human comprehension. The wisdom of Christ knows all things. 1 Cor. 1:30
1 Corinthians 1:30 NASB95
But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
When we look at the wisdom of Christ, He not only sees what we do but also, knows what we think. He is an all knowing God.

Counsel and Strength (Omnipotent)

There is no weakness in Christ. He is full of power and strength. He demonstrates this by calming the storm, healing the sick, teaching with authority, and ultimately conquering sin and death.
This means that He will exemplify his strength in our lives to do, what He wants to accomplish. This even means the impossible.
A Fly Doing The Impossible
Prop: Toy fly
I was driving down the road at about 75 mph on the interstate the other day and something happened that happens a lot unfortunately. There was a fly in my car. You know how annoying that can get with the fly just buzzing back and forth in the car. I was annoyed at first but than I became intrigued. I began to think that how lucky this fly was. You know it’s impossible for that fly to go 75 mph no matter how hard it flaps. The fastest fly ever clocked was going 24 mph. So this fly is going 3 times as fast as it ever could but the funny thing is he’s not doing anything in fact he’s playing and having fun in my car oblivious to the things around it.
That’s just like us with God when we get inside of Him we can do things we never thought we could’ve done.
Now it was interesting thinking about that for a while but than he became annoying again so what I did was roll down my window and push him out. Do you ever wonder what happens to a fly when it is going down the road about 75 mph and than all of a sudden stops.
Well we don’t have to worry about that with God because He has no windows that can roll down once your inside Jesus you can’t get out.

Knowledge and Fear of the Lord

Jesus stood in awe of the Lord and knew that in his human state that God was a little higher than himself. Jesus voluntarily stepped down and clothed Himself as human for a time. He never stopped being God, but for a time was made a little lower than the angels . Heb. 2:9
Hebrews 2:9 NASB95
But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
Though He was made a little lower than the angels, He remained God. The best way to understand this is Phil. 2:5-11
Philippians 2:5–11 NASB95
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus did this to glorify God and Himself. I believe that He also did this to demonstrate His tremendous love for us.

He Is Judge

He will judge with a righteous judgement and not by why He sees or hears. He knows intent and all facts of every judgement He makes. 2 Cor. 5:10
2 Corinthians 5:10 NASB95
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
When we stand before Jesus we will be judged by every thought we think, word we said, and action we took. He will know perfectly.

Judge the poor and decide fairness on the afflicted

The Lord will take up the cause of the poor and afflicted. It is true that the world we live in is not fair. There are some who have more opportunity than others. Whether it is being brought up in a healthy home or a dysfunctional home. Those that did not have much in this life will be recompensed in heaven. This does not mean that those who are rich in this life will not receive reward as well.
It simply means that the inequities that we have on earth will not be found in heaven.Luke 16:19-31
Luke 16:19–31 NASB95
“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. “And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. “Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. “In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. “And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ “But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. ‘And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’ “And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house— for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ “But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ “But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ “But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”

His Judgment Is Final

He will strike the earth with His mouth and slay the wicked with his breath. Jesus will put an end to all evil and sin. He will cast all unbelievers into the Lake of Fire with Satan and His demons. He will crate a new heaven and earth where sin will be no more.

New Heaven and Earth

Isaiah gives a picture of what this will look like. Isaiah 11:6-10
Isaiah 11:6–10 NASB95
And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them. Also the cow and the bear will graze, Their young will lie down together, And the lion will eat straw like the ox. The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den. They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord As the waters cover the sea. Then in that day The nations will resort to the root of Jesse, Who will stand as a signal for the peoples; And His resting place will be glorious.
There will be animals in heaven. They will not live by the instinct they live by in heaven.
There will be children in heaven.
There will be no violence in heaven.
We will all be full of the knowledge of the Lord
We will spend our time serving and Worshiping the Lord Jesus!
