The Miracle of the Method - the Word became flesh

With our celebration of the birth of Christ and the events that took place in the comparatively insignificant town of Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago coming more and more into focus, we have been asking the Scriptures to help us to better understand “The Miracles/Wonders/Mysteries of Christ’s Birth.

We have also been asking ourselves “How far did God go to help us to understand the true meaning and significance of those events?”

He spoke to us by His Son.

Not only did God speak to us through His Son, His timing, How He sent His Son and the purposes for which God sent His Son were clear and specific.

Today, we will further consider what it meant for God’s Son Jesus to be born of a woman, and how in Jesus, we see HOW FAR GOD AND HIS SON JESUS WERE WILLING TO GO IN ORDER THAT WE WOULD UNDERSTAND AND BELIEVE HIS MESSAGE.

John, the Apostle described how far the Father and the Son were willing to go.

Before we unpack this verse, we need to remind ourselves that some ideas, some concepts, some truths are far beyond our comprehension as finite beings.

How can we who are finite comprehend that which is infinite?

How can we who have spent all of our lives in a specific space time continuum even begin to understand that which is eternal, without beginning and without end?

How can we who process almost all that we assimilate through our 5 senses, get our heads and hearts around that which is in a physical sense in invisible, cannot be heard by our physical ears and cannot touched only by our physical hands?

How can the natural fathom the supernatural?

Only by someone who helps us bridge that understanding gap can we understand.

Because we cannot morph into the infinite , God, that is Jesus, took on human flesh to bridge that gap.

John explained it this way.

John did not allow those who read his account of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to wonder who the Word who became flesh.

He referred Jesus as the only Son from Father.

In the verses preceding where we will finish, John explained who the Word was.

The Word

In the beginning, the Word “was” - Jn 8:58

Was with God -

The Word was God.

All things were made “through” Him.

In Him was life

The life was the light of men

The light shines in the darkness/darkness has not overcome it

Another John - witness of the light, that all might believe

The true light -

Was coming to the world/ came to His own/most did not receive Him

Dwelt among us

His glory of and of the Father
