Everyone has a favorite Christmas song
There are Christmas songs in the Bible.
Luke 1:46–56 NASB95
And Mary said: “My soul exalts the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. “For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave; For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed. “For the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is His name. And His mercy is upon generation after generation Toward those who fear Him. “He has done mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart. “He has brought down rulers from their thrones, And has exalted those who were humble. He has filled the hungry with good things; And sent away the rich empty-handed. “He has given help to Israel His servant, In remembrance of His mercy, As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and his descendants forever.” And Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her home.

Two questions to help us understand this song better.

What does this mean for us?

We should worship (46-49)
God sent a Saviour for us!
Not only has He done great things for Mary, he’s done great things for you and I!
We need God (53)
He’s the one who we need to take care of us. You can’t figure out your own life.
Actually the ones who think they can figure out their own life, God opposes.

What does this show about God?

He is merciful (50)
Our God is so merciful and loving that He gave His Son to die for a world that didn’t even love Him.
We fear Him in the way you fear a good father.
He takes care of us, but humbles us when we need it. (51-53)
God is the only that can actually provide for us.
In fact, if you put your faith in yourself, He shuts it down so that you can turn to Him
He keeps His promises (54-55)
God made all of these promises in the OT
LIST: Genesis 3:15, Genesis 12:3, 2 Samuel 7:16, Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 53:5, and many others!
And through Jesus, all of His promises are fulfilled! He loves us enough to care about His promises He gave!
