a) The nature of bondage.

Bondage

Judges 6:1 “The people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord gave them into the hand of Midian seven years.”

Judges 6:2 “And the hand of Midian overpowered Israel, and because of Midian the people of Israel made for themselves the dens that are in the mountains and the caves and the strongholds.”

Types of bondages:

(a) Addiction

(b) Depression/negative thinking/

(c) Fear

(d) bitterness

(e) Religion

The nature of the bondage

Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Satan is all about deception. The meds only fix the symptoms, but often it doesn’t get to the root.

b)Tearing down Altars

The altar of False religion

(1) If a group or organization don’t believe that Jesus died and is risen from the dead and is lord, it is not Christian.

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Beware of Dark religions- There are practices/occults that open the spiritual doors to demonic influence.

(a) Something to consider I believe that the God of the bible is the one true. If I go to a palm reader and have my future read and God is not the one showing them… then who is? Satan is a liar and a Deceiver and if you are not careful, you might find yourself inadvertently getting power from to him, worship him, getting guidance from him. Therefore, the word of God is our standard.

Matthew 7:21 ““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

There will be a lot of people who will miss heaven because of the family

(a) There is hope that you could influence your family for Christ

c) How to pull down the altars

Obedience- He did it at night but he obeyed!

James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

(2) Radical obedience: It’s interesting that He didn’t tell Gideon to just turn away from worshiping Baal, but God said tear/pull it down! Overcoming the bondage in your life requires radical action. Making a Statement. We are not worshiping the God of Baal anymore!

Ex: Homeless Guy Allen pouring out the booz (He was a raging alcoholic)!!

Get help! Gathered 10 men

(1) So many times we are so prideful that we don’t seek help. We feel like we can do it on our own.

Systematic Theology Redemption

Redemption sometimes means simple deliverance; but properly, and always in its application to the work of Christ, it means deliverance by purchase. This is plain because it is a deliverance not by authority, or power, or teaching, or moral influence, but by blood, by the payment of a ransom.

Luke 4:18 ““The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,”
