COMMUNION

David reminds us that we are all born in sin
Psalm 51:5 - Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
But
In John 8:46 “Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?”
No one could because He was born without sin -
The sacrificial lamb - laid out in Leviticus 22:17-22 “And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the people of Israel and say to them, When any one of the house of Israel or of the sojourners in Israel presents a burnt offering as his offering, for any of their vows or freewill offerings that they offer to the Lord, if it is to be accepted for you it shall be a male without blemish, of the bulls or the sheep or the goats. You shall not offer anything that has a blemish, for it will not be acceptable for you. And when anyone offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it. Animals blind or disabled or mutilated or having a discharge or an itch or scabs you shall not offer to the Lord or give them to the Lord as a food offering on the altar.”
It is because Jesus was without blemish - without sin that He became the Passover Lamb, the ultimate sin sacrifice so death would passover us
Christmas and communion go hand in hand - Jesus left His heavenly home to live a perfect life and death a horrific death for my sin - you sin
So as we take of the bread - let us pray
Take now the cup of juice - the cup of the blood - the cup of redemption
Cup of Redemption – Exodus 6:6 and I will redeem you with outstretched arms and with great judgements
I will redeem you
Messiah redeems us – “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons” (Galatians 4:4-5).
This is the cup that Jesus commanded us to drink from
As we partake of the cup let us pray
