5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Matthew 1:18–25 NKJV

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” 24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

1) Joseph was a Just and Righteous man.

Matthew 1:19 NKJV

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

If anyone had a right to be upset Joseph had a right.

He was engaged, and He had the right to be upset.

their is no way He was going to believe “I was minding my own business, an angel came to me and said I was going to birth the Messiah. “

The custom of betrothal was different from “engagement” in modern society. Customarily the parents of a young man chose a young woman to be engaged to their son. A second stage of betrothal involved official arrangements and a prenuptial agreement before witnesses, which was a legally binding contract and could be broken only by a formal process of divorce. Why would Joseph not put it on face book?

2) Scripture Teaches us to forgive.

Matthew 6:14–15 NKJV

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

if I forgive i will be forgiven. If I don’t forgive I will not be forgiven.

No one is more righteous than God!

if our Heavenly father who sent Jesus to die for us, can forgive us, who is righteousness can forgive us, who are we not forgive.

most of us don’t get it, we are not is cool.

Joseph was a man of God, He was:

hurting, and

holy,

humiliated,

humble.

3) Joseph was a man of grace, Jesus IS grace! Why should we not BE grace.

Forgiveness is not for the person needing forgiveness,

it is for me!

when I have un-forgiveness, it kills me.

I don't need justice, I need healing.
