Alright, so tonight we are going to look a little deeper at Noah’s Ark. Why is it important and does it still exist. If it does exist does that make a difference.
So I wanted to begin tonight by talking about relics, religious relics. Relics are a big deal in the Roman Catholic tradition.
According to catholic straight answers .com
Relics include the physical remains of a saint (or of a person who is considered holy but not yet officially canonized) as well as other objects which have been “sanctified” by being touched to his body. These relics are divided into two classes: First class or real relics include the physical body parts, clothing, and instruments connected with a martyr’s imprisonment, torture, and execution. Second class or representative relics are those which the faithful have touched to the physical body parts or grave of the saint.
More familiar to us would be the Shroud of Turin or the Spear of Destiny aka The lance of Longinus- legendary relic that pierced the side of Christ at the Crucifixion.

In many cases these relics become objects of worship. The Bible records an interesting story about a relic, the “brazen serpent.” God has instructed Moses to make a brazen serpent and put it on a pole that if in anyone would simply look to it he would be healed of his snake bite. Well that Brass Serpent survived and became an idol to Israel. Hezekiah becomes King and has to deal with Israels idolatry
4 He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it; and it was called Nehushtan.
Meaning a thing of brass.
Paul tells us that the unregenerate man is always moved to;
25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
However, there is one relic that I believe God has purposely preserved as a witness to the Flood Judgement and the judgement to come. That is of course Noah’s Ark. We discussed the idea of why the Ark was pitched with in and with out, perhaps to preserve it. It also paints a picture of Christ’s atonement for us as pitch in Hebrew is the same word as atonement, kofer.

So with that said let’s get into our text for tonight, Please stand.
1 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time.
2 “You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female;
3 also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth.
4 “For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.”
5 Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him.
6 Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth.
7 Then Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood.
8 Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground,
9 there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 It came about after the seven days, that the water of the flood came upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.
12 The rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.
It is interesting that Noah is included in a very small group of believers. In the book of Ezekiel; in speaking about the wickedness of Judah;
14 even though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves,” declares the Lord God.
I spent a fair amount of time developing the idea of Noah genetic purity, but let’s not lose that fact that Noah had a strong relationship with God. Just Abraham Noah believed in God, trusted in God, and that was where his righteousness came from.
In Verse 2 & 3 notice a distinction is made between the clean and the unclean in regard to the animals and birds. He was to bring 7 pairs of each.
And notice that in verse 4 they were to load the Ark and after 7 days the rain would begin.
Do you ever wonder how did Noah and family pull off getting all these animals onto the Ark?
Genesis 6:19–20 (NASB95)
19 “And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.
20 “Of the birds after their kind, and of the animals after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.
God supernaturally caused the animals to come to Noah and enter the ark.

Do you think the flood occurred just as recorded in Genesis? I certainly believe it did and there is abundant geological and historical evidence to prove it. Sea shells and fish fossils on mountain tops to land animal fossils at the bottom of the ocean. The Grand Canyon may be one of the best evidences. Creation scientists believe the the Grand Canyon was formed as a result of the flood in a very short time span like a few years or less.
Interestingly the Mt Saint Helen's eruption in 1980 has displayed for all the world to see how this can and does happen in just one day.

13 On the very same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark,
14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, all sorts of birds.
15 So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life.
16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed it behind him.
Finally, notice who closed the door of the Ark. No one knows the day or the hour but one day again the door will close and there will be no more boarding. Make sure you are within the “atonement covered walls of the Ark.”
