Unity Flows

Listen! BEHOLD, how good and how pleasent it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Written by a king who’s own son tried to kill him, wether it be written before that ungodly time or when there was finally unity between the House of Saul and the House of David? It seemed the favor of God upon Davids life attracted jelously perpetually throughout his Life. The one working in the wilderness looking after the sheep (1 Sam 17:28) was not bought to the sacrifice that Samuel was offering, instead Jesse only brought 7 of his sons. His brother on the battle field had anger kindled against him, Saul had seen that David was loved by all and grew jealous of him to the point he tried to kill him, and his son Absolom driven by pride and greed tried to take what was not his. David a man after God’ heart, when you read the story of David you think to yourself, this is the one! the promised king, he’s the one after God’ own heart. We see him be merciful to King Saul even tho Saul tried to kill multiple times. He defeated the giant Goliath, delivering Israel out of the hands of the Philistines. He was God’ annointed King! Then you read (2 Sam 11). He isnt the promised one, we must look to another. The commonality in these persons i have mentioned is not only did they sin against each other, but first and foremost they sinned against God. That is where our unity must be found, in God. Behold! the demonstrative particle commands us to pay attention to what is about to be said, and i personally believe the KJV gets it right here, “How good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity”. In the hebrew Mah is first written without the vav but the second mah is written with the vav usually connecting what procedes as it does here, “When brothers dwell in unity” Many have differing opinons as to who or what time period it is reffering to, its first application would point to a specific time in Davids life, im not here to argue which time this was. but the emphasis is on the splender of unity in which it is our duty to pursue least we allow the bitter sting of jelousy cause us to sin against a Holly God in whom we are united to through his only begotten son, the first born of the bretheren Jesus Christ. Heaven forbid we should do so, but being attached to this decayoing body we are likely in one way or another to hurt a brother or sister in the lord. But we must Behold what scripture says through the wealth of references regarding unity amongst those in Christ. We must also look to the countless acts of division throughout scripture as a warning.
