It’s interesting that the entire world basis their calendar around Jesus. If Jesus wasn’t real this scheme has been going on 2021 years.
B.C. Before Christ.
A.D anno Domini- The Year of our Lord
You know how I know 2022 is going to be great—Because it’s the year of our Lord. There hasn’t been a bad year yet, there have been rough times, but God’s word is always moving
Matthew 1:18–23 ESV
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Christmas Changes Everything
Christ’s Birth restarted the entire calendar. We went to the caverns in Virginia this year and it made me laugh because the guide kept saying that a few thousand years ago a great world wide event caused this to happen. Or caused this piece of rock to detach and fall making this bridge.
Of course we know he was talking about the flood, but that flood changed the the way the Earth sits. Jesus not only changed the world, he started it over.
God became Man
Matthew 16:13–16 ESV
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Fully God and Fully Man
We can’t skip over the obvious- Jesus is conceived by the Holy Spirit. What does that mean. Well we know it wasn’t sexual because they made it a point to call her a virgin over and over again. Even after conception.
What I assumed happened was God breathed Him into existence. Using the entire bible and how God created and moved things we know it’s either breathe or voice which ultimately is created by breath. But this had to happen Jesus couldn’t be born out of the seed of man. here’s why
Deuteronomy 5:9 ESV
9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Notice the term fathers. What this is saying is it is through the father seed that iniquity or sin is passed onf or up to 4 generations. If a natural man had a part in creating Jesus he would have been born of sin, but since God himself created him just as he created Adam and Eve Jesus knew no sin.
Remember it wasn’t until Adam and Eve ate the fruit that they even knew what sin was. When God made them they too we sinless.
This helps us to explain why we declare that we are born again. We were born into sin, but God grafts us into his family.
another way. When the Holy spirit is described it’s usually wind, breath, or fire. Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit, just as we are reborn through Christ and then given the Holy Spirit.
This means the greatest gift is be born again. Born of a different seed. Recieving the same Holy Spirit that fell upon Mary giving her new life inside of her.
God Became Human
God didn’t send an angel. He didn’t just create another perfect being God sent is son who was there with God since the begginng of time.
John 1:1 ESV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The word is Jesus. Through the Old Testimate the Word is often related to Jesus Christ. This is why we say it’s important for believers to not only confess but believe that Jesus Christ
1 John 4:2–3 ESV
2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
2 John 7 ESV
7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.
Hebrews 2:14 ESV
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
