This document discusses how to pray for a group well as from Pastor’s perspective. We will discuss the 5 steps to leading a successful group prayer.
Quick Guide
Quick Guide
Opening - Dear lord my God,
Bring people together - We greet you together today, Lord.
Humility - Knowing that without you, there is no hope.
Theme - Without hope, there is nothing good. We are thankful for the salvation you gave us, through Jesus’ sacrifice. How can we be more blessed and happy to receive such an amazing gift. This gift, which reflects your nature, indescribably beautiful and just and holy.
Closing - We are so grateful. Amen.
Openings
Openings
There are many different openings to choose from. During an opening, it is important to focus on the godhead that is who we mean the prayer for. For example, if we are praying about salvation, we can address our prayer to Jesus. If we are praying about the government, maybe address God the father. It is important to switch up the openings ‘to retain audience attention’. As we know, our prayers are not to the people in the room, but to God. So if ‘switching’ up the opening causes ingenuity, then don’t.
Dear Lord God,
Great God in heaven,
Lord Jesus,
Creator and Sustainer,
Bring People Together
Bring People Together
After the opening statement, we ‘bring people together’. This means that we state what joins our group together as a whole. We state how we connect to one another. If the person praying is not praying a prayer connected to the other people in the room, their hearts probably won’t be moved to join in with the prayer.
as we come together today (since we are all in the same room for the same reason),
we the church,
my brothers and sisters,
my friends and classmates,
Humility
Humility
As with any prayer to God, in a group or otherwise, showing humility is right. We know that we all are sinners, God knows and we repent. We don’t have power that God has, so we are thankful. Humility also helps focus people in on the prayer. This is a part of relating to the audience.
As sinners, we are grateful to have salvation,
As a human,
We rely on you, God,
We cannot live without you, God,
Theme
Theme
We then move into the theme, conversing with God about the topic for the week. It is good to keep topics up to the time, and also to vary them throughout the weeks.
Protection / blessing for the week.
To be a good testimony to friends, family, and strangers.053894

Draw us closer to you God.
Keep our paths straight.
Thankful for salvation
Closing
Closing
Use different closings as appropriate. Pastor says that using ‘amen!’ is a very good and biblical way to end prayers.
In Jesus name I can pray.
In your son’s name I pray.
We humbly ask in your name.
Thanks you, our great God.
Help us Lord.
