Christmas brings peace

Luke 2:29 NASB95
“Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word;
Simeon was just waiting to see the plan for salvation that God had promised. After he saw the baby Jesus, he told God that he could die then!
Have you ever said that if you could just get something that you could die? Simeon LITERALLY says that
Simeon experienced incredibly peace because he finally could rest in God’s salvation
Through Christmas/ the Gospel, all of the chaos in our lives, all of our anxieties, everything that weighs us down can be thrown to God. Because through the Gospel, God is shown to take our cares on Him!
1 Peter 5:6–7 (NASB95)
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Christmas brings joy

Luke 2:30 NASB95
For my eyes have seen Your salvation,
Simeon says that, in holding the baby Jesus, he has seen salvation. Can you imagine the joy that he must have felt looking at this little baby and knowing that He is upholding the universe and is going to save the world?
For us, the joy that comes from Christmas should be overwhelming! The Gospel proves that there is a God of the universe that loves you enough to die for you, and that you can put your faith in Him instead of relying on yourself.
Imagine being on death row and then someone takes that punishment for you!

Christmas brings hope

Luke 2:31–32 NASB95
Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, A Light of revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
Simeon talks about how Jesus’ brith shows God’s plan for the world. At that time, Jesus wasn’t crucified, He hadn’t resurrected Himself from the dead, so the full scope of God’s plan hadn’t been accomplished, but the hope of Simeon for the rest of the world because of Christmas is huge!
God has a plan for the world, and He has a plan for you. Doesn’t that fill you with hope? No matter what happens in your life, you can never truly be hurt because your hope is put on something that can never be satisfied.
Questions
