The Miracle of the Messiah

What is all the fuss about this baby born two thousand years ago?
Tie revolves around His birth.
Nations have been destroyed and birthed because of Him.
Wars have been fought in His name.
Men and women have laid down their lives for the name of this small child, born in a manger.
In Isaiah7:14 we see that His name is to be called Immanuel- God with us.
In Matt. and Luke we see His name is Jesus.
We know His name but what do we know of Him?
We find that God has many names.
Jehovah Jireh- Lord who Provides
Jehovah Nissi- Lord my banner
Jehovah Tsidkenu- Lord my righteousness
Jehovah Raah- Lord my shepherd
Jehovah Rapha- Lord my heals
Jehovah Shalom- Lord my peace
Jehovah M’Kaddesh- Lord who sanctifies
Jehovah Sabaoth- Lord of Hosts
Jehovah Elohim- Lord God
Elohim- God
El Shaddai- God all mighty
El Olam- Everlasting God
El Elyon- Most High God
El Roi- God who sees
Adoni- Lord
Abba- Father
Alpha and Omega
Ancient of Days
However when we come to Jesus birth we see that there is two names particularly referencing the Christ.
Immanuel- El-God, Immanu- with us
Jesus (a derivative of Joshua)- Salvation
Why the perceived discrepancy?
The difference comes down to function. Both names are correct but one describes who He is while the other describes what He does.

Immanuel- God with us.

Immanuel tells us who God is.
The Miracle of the Messiah is that Immanuel was God among us. God among humanity.
Taking on flesh He became like we are. He was all of God clothed in flesh and blood.
In John He tells us that He was in the beginning and the creator of all things. He wore flesh and took on the form of a servant yet He was God in fulness and power.
Yes He was born of woman but the woman was a mere creation of His own doing. Although He came from Marry’s womb, He had also placed her within her mothers womb. As she held Him in her hands, He held her in His.
Immanuel- God with us. Yet He had never been apart. However, now something was different. Now for the first time we could see His face. Our faith had come to fruition.
He was not the conquering military might the Israelites had anticipated, yet He was the conquering Christ who would defeat sin.
God with us. A God who would relate to our suffering, and trials.
Hebrews 4:15 KJV 1900
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Yet still He remained unscathed by sin. Fully human and fully God.
No longer just a God from a distance but a God with us. A God who walked among us.
He was and is Immanuel. He still walks among us and we can know Him through the power of His Spirit.

Jesus- Savior

Immanuel speaks to who He is, Jesus speaks of what He does.
Jesus is an english word that comes from a Greek word, which comes from a Hebrew root of Yeshua (Joshua) or Yehoshua.
Yeshua means salvation.
Yehoshua means God is my salvation.
Acts 13:23 NKJV
From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior—Jesus—
Why did God say we need a Savior?
Acts 4:12 NKJV
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 5:30–31 NKJV
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 13:28–30 NKJV
And though they found no cause for death in Him, they asked Pilate that He should be put to death. Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the dead.
Acts 13:37–39 NKJV
but He whom God raised up saw no corruption. Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Our need for a Savior is birthed from our sinful condition.
Jesus is our Savior.
He saves us from sin. The penalty of sin. The power of sin.
He is Immanuel- God with us. Not God was with us but God is with us.
Is He with you today? He is calling out but you must respond.
He is Jesus- the Savior of the World.
Have you experienced His salvation. If not why delay?
