INTRODUCTION
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS & QUICK UPDATE ON HEALTH
As we enter Christmas, we always want to make Christ our center.
He is the reason for the season.
Today we need to be reminded that
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD.
TENSION
Christmas for many is truly the most wonderful time of the year.
For some it has its challenges.
Even when it’s a great season, we still have life going on.
Life is challenging.
Today let’s look at the Christmas story and be encouraged.
TRUTH
Luke 1:26–38
Luke 1:26–38 (NASB95)
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,
27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one!
The Lord is with you.”
29 But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.
30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.
32 “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;
33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
36 “And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month.
37 “For nothing will be impossible with God.”
38 And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.”
And the angel departed from her.
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD.
vs. 28-30 – Mary was FAVORED… Just because you’re in what seems like an UNFAVORABLE situation doesn’t mean you’re not FAVORED
Biggest blessing in Mary’s life …before the blessing came, Mary was in an uncomfortable position.
Unwed teenager now pregnant…unfavorable position culturally speaking.
vs. 34 – Mary had immense faith and courage…but she also had QUESTIONS.
It’s ok to ask questions in life…the presence of questions doesn’t mean there’s a lack of faith
Vs. 36 – Mary gets a sign (testimony of her cousin living in the impossible)
· Power of a testimony…we need other people’s stories of God’s provision to encourage our faith.
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD
Vs. 37 –
Nothing will be impossible with God (NASB)
For the word of God will never fail (NLT)
For no word from God shall be void of power.
(ASV)
No-thing…or no RHEMA will fail or is void of power
No freshly spoken word of God lacks the ability to complete itself.
When God speaks…His word contains within itself the power needed for that word to be fully completed and revealed in our reality.
MARK 4 – God’s Word is a SEED…The power is in the seed
· LAST WEEK – The seeds we sow through our actions
· TODAY – God’s sowing seeds through His word
