Introduction
When I was a young teenager I visited my best friend who lived in Lancaster, California.
In the fields next to his home were thousands of sheep—guided by a team of shepherds.
They worked hard to help keep the sheep safe and moving in the right direction.
2,000 years ago, God chose shepherds to announce the coming of the Messiah—One who would save people from their sins.
Text
Luke 2:8 ESV
8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Luke 2:8 LBLA
Luke 2:9 ESV
9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.
Luke 2:9 LBLA
Luke 2:10 ESV
10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
Luke 2:10 LBLA
10 Mas el ángel les dijo: No temáis, porque he aquí, os traigo buenas nuevas de gran gozo que serán para todo el pueblo;
Luke 2:11 ESV
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:12 ESV
12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:12 LBLA
Luke 2:13 ESV
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
Luke 2:13 LBLA
Luke 2:14 ESV
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Luke 2:14 LBLA
Luke 2:15 ESV
15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
Luke 2:15 LBLA
Main Idea: This morning, I want to talk with you about Great News from our Great God that will give you Great Hope!!!

The Good News

Good news of Great Joy.
From the beginning, God promised to deliver us from our sins.
When someone is “delivered” from pain or “delivered” from a debt or “delivered” from discouragement—the natural result is Great Joy.
God has Good News for us that will bring in your life Great Joy.
Good news for all the people.
The Good News from God is not just for a select few—it is for everyone.
It does not matter what you have done, or where you live, or how old you are—it is for everyone.
Good news is the Savior.
And, what do we need that will bring great joy: we need a savior—The Savior who will save us from our sins and give us hope and life.
The Savior is the heart of Christmas—the center of Good News.
Good news is Christ the Lord.
The Savior we need is Someone specific.
Christ means “send one” from God.
Lord means “one who possesses authority.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the One send from God, the One possessing all authority, the One who will save us from our sins.

The Glory of God

Luke 2:13–14 ESV
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Luke 2:13–14 LBLA
There are three things about God who gives to us this promise of a Savior:
The majesty of God
God is holy, truth, righteous, perfect—worthy of all praise and adoration.
The authority of God
God is omnipotent—all powerful—and nothing can stand against His promise.
The blessing of God
God who is holy and God who is all powerful gives to us a promise that cannot be undone. If we would trust in Him, He saves us and gives us new life.

The Hope for the World

What God says, He does - God does not lie!
Luke 2:16–17 ESV
16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child.
Luke 2:16–17 LBLA
The shepherds experienced the promise of God fulfilled by GOING and SEEING.
They would have not experienced the fullness of God’s promise if they did not respond to His message with obedience.
The Hope of God is our Hope if we choose to follow Him.
The choice is ours to make: to trust Him and experience His blessing—OR, choose to trust in ourselves, and experience hopelessness, turmoil, and pain.
The shepherds chose to trust in God and it changed everything!
Luke 2:20 ESV
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
Luke 2:20 LBLA
On this Christmas Sunday, I hope you will chose to trust in God.
God’s way is the way of hope, peace, and healing.
Jesus said:
John 14:6 ESV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 LBLA
