Matthew 2:9–11 KJV 1900

9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Worship is a Personal expression of an inward Reverence and Joy

Worship is more fully understood as an interrelation between divine action and human response: worship is the human response to the self-revelation of the triune God. This includes: (1) divine initiation in which God reveals Himself, His purposes, and His will; (2) a spiritual and personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ on the part of the worshiper; and (3) a response by the worshiper of adoration, humility, submission, and obedience to God.

God revealed Himself in all three of these ways through His son Jesus.

The wise men saw the revelation of God in the Star.

The revelation of God brings Joy and gladness.

Matthew 2:10 KJV 1900

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

That Joy from the revelation of God invoked True Worship
