Mark 16:14-20

Introduction

Marshall and I are going to be speaking on the subject of bringing others to Christ.
Specifically, we are going to be talking about inviting others to worship.
This is certainly not the only way to engage in bringing Christ to the world.
But it is a staple and often an easy way to introduce someone to the pattern of the New Testament church.
Additionally, tonight, after Marshall’s sermon, we are going to take a few minutes to talk about some things we are going to be doing this coming year to emphasize and facilitate the things we are talking about today.

Having the Heart

This is the last admonition given in Matthew’s gospel (Matt. 28:19-20).
This is one of the patterns of the book of Acts.
We have been given a gift beyond compare (Col. 1:13-14).
We need to develop a heart for the lost (Lk. 15).

What Do You Love?

Can you talk about how this church affects your life?
Can you talk about things you learn here?
Can you talk about the relationships this church provides for you?

Observations

Pray for opportunities (Col. 4:3).
Make a list of people to invite.
Start with people you know.
2% Advertisement
6% Invitation by the pastor
6% An organized evangelistic outreach program
86% An invitation by a friend or family member
“82% of the unchurched are at least somewhat likely to attend church if invited, but only 2 percent of church members invite an unchurched person to church. 98% of church-goers never extend an invitation in a given year.”
Use all of the tools at your disposal.

Conclusion

We are talking about inviting others to come and take part in something that we love.
But if you are here and are not a Christian, then the invitation is to you!
