Toni’s story about the fire
They prayed for that which was most important to them
State: As we watch the world around us be shaken
As we have another Christmas in semi-lockdown due to a virus
anti-vax riots / economic changes
As the world is threatened by the effects of climate change
More severe storms / massive forest fires /draught
As we live through the first of a series of global shakings to come upon the world.....
What is God looking at on the earth and saying…I want to save that from the coming destruction
YOU!
Of all the things that God created....he chose YOU as the thing that was the most important to him
How do we know this?
Every year, millions and millions of people celebrate something that proves You are the most important thing in all of his creation
We celebrate Christmas......
Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ
Jesus was born for a purpose.....
John 3:16 NLT
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Jesus did not come to save the brazillian rain forest / the whales / The bees /
Their well being was left to us to take care of....and we failed!
He came to save you....because you were the most important thing he created
Simeon’s words about Jesus
Luke 2:25–32 (NLT)
So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, 28 Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, 29 “Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. 30 I have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared for all people. 32 He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!”
Jesus came to bring salvation to all PEOPLE.
33 years later Jesus would bring that salvation through his death and resurrection
Isaiah said this about Christ 700 years before his birth
Isaiah 53:5 NLT
5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
The apostle Pauls said it this way

He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

This is the way Jesus saves you and I.........The gift of his death and ressurection
You will receive many gifts this Christmas......but this gift is eternal
If you have already received this gift from God
What is the most important thing to you this Christmas.....
I hope it is a person and not an item
Take time to show your love to them
