Unselfish

Aloha and welcome everyone!
Thank you for joining our Ohana to celebrate Christmas!
Thank you for coming tonight!
Mele Kalikimaka!
Let’s pray
Jesus God’s gift to sinners
God so loved us that he sent Jesus His only son to the world.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16
Jesus is the full expression of God’s love for you and me. Jesus epitomizes Agape, God’s love.
Jesus came to demonstrate, God’s love, for us. His unselfish, unlimited, unconditional, His Agape Love.
1 Unselfish (willing to put the needs or wishes of others before one's own.)
His love is always looking for your best interest for your greater good.
God created us to have a close relationship with Him,
He would always be our Father and take care of all our needs, but we rejected His love and presence,
Our Heavenly Father knows us well, He knows that we were lied to and deceived.
Giving Jesus and punishing him for the sins of the world it was a sacrifice, Our Heavenly Father reached out to those who rejected Him, Who refused his love. It was for our benefit only, He loved us so much that he sent Jesus to take our place.
Jesus told this parable
Luk 18:10 "Two men went up into the temple [enclosure] to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood [ostentatiously] and began praying to himself [in a self-righteous way, saying]: 'God, I thank You that I am not like the rest of men--swindlers, unjust (dishonest), adulterers--or even like this tax collector.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.'
Luk 18:13 But the tax collector, standing at a distance, would not even raise his eyes toward heaven, but was striking his chest [in humility and repentance], saying, 'God, be merciful and gracious to me, the[especially wicked] sinner [that I am]!'
Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went to his home justified [forgiven of the guilt of sin and placed in right standing with God] rather than the other man; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself[forsaking self-righteous pride] will be exalted."
God’s love is always there for when we come to Him in humility
Our family Just lost a dear friend, he prayed for his dad’s salvation since he got saved, for the past 30 years, he forgave his dad, for his short comings and loved him unselfishly, he was a great son, about 3 weeks ago he had a heart attack, the day before he passed away his dad gave his life to the Lord, our unselfish love, is the only way to create an opportunity for someone to meet Jesus.
2 Unlimited
(not limited or restricted in terms of number, quantity, or extent.) Immeasurable
Psalm 103:8-12
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
There is not a limit on God’s love and forgiveness for us, His love is all over and always with us, he is patient and kind.
He will forgive us, as many time as we repent and ask Him.
Some Years ago, I was teaching in Merida Venezuela, a small city on the Andes mountains. in the middle of an afternoon someone came to my room and said, you have someone looking for you downstairs. I went to meet this lady that I never seen before, and I was wondering how did anyone even know that I was up in the mountains of Venezuela?
She introduced herself, to me and said I heard of you from a friend in Brazil and I drove a few hours to get here. Is 9 hours from Caracas to Merida.
More she spoke, my curiosity increased, why would someone wanted to talk to me so bad that would drive across the country to meet me.
She began to tell me about how hurt and disappointed she was with her father, how much he failed her, and he was not there for her as she grew up, she became just like him and destroyed her own family, she understood she was in a prison until she would forgive him, she was being tormented. She desperately wanted to be free.
Her question was Can I be forgiven for all the bad things I have done? and can I be free from the bitterness in my heart?
My answer to her was yes God’s love is unlimited, yes can set you free. We prayed for her and she was set free.
Rom 5:20
20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The unlimited unmerited favor of God, super abounds, our sins maybe grievous, may have not only defiled you, but many around you, created suffering and pain, God’s love and forgiveness goes beyond anything we can possibly do.
The love of God has no limit, He loves you with an everlasting love.

3 Is unconditional

not subjected to any condition is unreserved
It does not require anything; God always love us.
Some of Our fore fathers could not understand God’s love, they saw Him as Holy and just, but not as a Loving Father,
We live in a very imperfect world, by men’s choice, sin came into the world and separated us from our loving Heavenly Father.
Ever sense we live with imperfections, there are no one perfect or good in this world, we are all sinners and those who are saved are saved by grace.
Is very easy to make a list of people who deserve and don’t deserve to be loved or at least of who we can tolerate.
for some their list is very short, they don’t even make into their own list. God gave us family to love, but they don’t make into their list either. Many will end up being judgmental and critical and very often all alone.
God sent His only son Jesus, into the world to demonstrate His love, his justice against evil and sin, and his commitment to you and me.
Jesus came to correct any wrong theology about His Heavenly Father and how we are to see each other.
1 John 4:9–10
9 “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only son into the world, so that we might live through him.
10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
I’m certain that God used someone, somewhere, with all their imperfections to show you His Agape love.
I’m here today because I had an imperfect mother who chose to love, she refused to give up on me, as a teenager I was not nice, but she believed God could change my heart, so she loved me and prayed for me. Because of her love and prayers our whole family came to know Jesus.
Jesus turned around and said to us, go and love one another just as I have loved you.
Joh 13:34 I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another.
Joh 13:35 By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another."
Remember how Jesus loved you, go and love others the same way.
Jesus is God’s gift to sinners, you and me.
He demonstrated God’s love to us
Unselfish, unlimited, unconditional, love.
To receive Jesus, we need to accept Him as God’s son,
repent from your sins and a life of selfishness,
ask Him to be your Lord and savior, not that you deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire tonight, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner, I’m sorry for my sins, I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
E mau aku ka loko maika’i o ka Haku, Iesu Kristo; me ke aloha a ke Akua, a me ka launa pu ‘ana mai o ka Uhane Hemolele ia ‘olua, a me makou apau. Amene.
