Matt 2:1-2 “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?

For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.””

“wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “where is he”

Couple of things about these men who are looking for a king.

They probably travelled over a year……They had an entourage.

a travelling party - They surely wouldnt have been alone.Everyone wouldve noticed.

I mean even King Herod called a special town halll because ofthem.

They were probably in the region for several weeks looking.... asking, enquiring.

searching.

I could just imagine a regular shopkeeper (a retail assistant) in the street watching this party move through.

it was me… curiosity would’ve got the best of me i would’ve asked them....

What are you looking for?

or the better question would’ve been this one.

which is my first thought tonite.

1.WHO ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

there are MANY MANY people walking through life and they are wondering and they are looking for something!

So many people are looking for something

People are looking to Addiction

To drugs

To material possessions

To something that may just numb the pain for a little while...

But they are STILL LEFT… looking.

These wise men?

These wise intelligent MEN from the east?

Here is what i believe the parralel could be for today, for 2021.

CURRENT DAY:

truth: we are all searching for something.

But David makes it plan its not WHAT we are looking for.... ITS WHO.

Psalm 62:5-6 “5 For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.

6 He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.”

2.WHAT WILL YOU DO WHEN YOU SEE HIM?

Matt 2:10-11 “10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

11 And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him.

Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.”

IF YOU FIND WHO YOUR SOUL HAS BEEN LOOKING FOR YOUR WHOLE LIFE:

the Q is this: What will you DO when you SEE HIM.

“they SAW the Child..... with Mary his mother, and THEY FELL DOWN & Worshipped HIM.

Q:Will you fall down & worship him?……why?

because He’s worthy of your worship!

it says then they opened up their treasures and offered gifts……

GOLD - his majesTy.

He’s king of kings lord of lords

FRANKINCENSE - his divinity.

He’s fully God.

MYRHH - his humanity.

He’s fully man.

The myrhh is significantly because it was what was used to anoint bodies and prepare them for burial.

We j ow that because in john 19 after Jesus is crucified he brings myrhh to the place where he was crucified and in john is says thy nicodemus and Jospe of arimathea bound his body in linen cloths with the spices as is the burial custom of the Jews.

So who are you looking for?

and what will you do when you see him?

for these wise men they rejoiced exceedingly and when they SAW THE CHILD IN MARYS ARMS they FELL DOWN AND worshipped him.

our only response to this kind of King is worship.

our only response to the majesty of JESUS is worship.

WORSHIP / CAROLS.

can enencourage you were going to sing carols and light candles in just a moment but we’re not just signing songs.

Were joining a chorus of billions of people now who have answered that question for themselves.

Who are you looking for?

So now it’s time to worship HIM?
