Take a Look into yourself

We are coming into the transition time. We just finished Christmas, we are getting ready to start with our New Year’s Resolution. We are seeing what we did this past year, where we can change, where we can grow.
2 Corinthians 13:5–9 ESV
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test. But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. Your restoration is what we pray for.
Examine Yourself
We need to examine ourselves. Maybe we need to read the bible more this year, maybe we don’t need to watch TV much this year. Maybe we need to spend more time with our family. Maybe not spend time, but reach out more.
2 Corinthians 13:5–6 ESV
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test.
Test Day
Who remembers Test Day?
Remember we stay up all night, with coffee, loud music to keep us awake, and trying to cram everything before the test.
We didn’t want to fail the test. Number one we would have to explain the F to our parents and I don’t know about you, but myself it wasn’t going to pretty. Grounded for life. I think I’m still grounded, but my parents might have forgotten.
My mom will remember now lol.
This is not your typical test. We don’t need a pencil and paper. We are not needing to memorize everything. We are to follow God and try our best to not disappoint. But it’s going to happen.
2 Corinthians 13:7–8 ESV
But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.
We are not perfect!
There is one man who was perfect and that is Jesus Christ. The only we pass is if we say God I believe.
Romans 10:9 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 8:10 ESV
But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
This is how I believe the test will be. One question:
Why should I let you in Heaven?
You lied to your family. You cheated on your spouse by looking at another person in a lustful way. You stole from work. You took my name in Vain multiple times and still claimed to be a follower. You did this, you did that. All of this is going to tear you down. You will have these thoughts while you reflect on your life.
YOU ARE NOT WORTHY TO BE IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
But you will get that lifeline. That phone a friend. That Friend is JESUS CHRIST. GOD will call up HIS SON, God will ask him what the answer is.
Jesus Christ will answer and say Father remember when everyone was turning away and you sent me down here to a Virgin named Mary, remember when I walked around I was healing the sick, the blind was seeing, the lame were walking and jumping and everyone was thrilled. Then they turned on me. I was betrayed by one of my disciples, I was put on trial and they let go a murderer and put me in his place. I was beaten with a cat of nine tails to a bloody mess that people could barely recognize me. I had 3 nails drove through my hands and my feet. I died the most barbaric way know as crucifixion for him. I took HIS SINS. I took HER SINS on that cross, and they believed that you sent me to die for theirs sins, they believed that I rose 3 days later, and THEY BELIEVED that I AM COMING BACK AGAIN.
THATS WHY YOU SHOULD LET THIS PERSON IN HEAVEN.
WASHED AS WHITE AS SNOW.
The ending of vs 7 says this, that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed.
I talked last week, I had to go to Tonopah the week before and there was a snow storm that came in.
Fresh snow on the ground is a site to see. It is white. But what happened to that snow, once people walk on it, or drive on it. It becomes dirty and no longer spotless. It looks ragged. Then new snowfall happens again and its a beautiful white.
Thats us. We become Saved, doesn’t mean we will not screw up because we will. Does not mean we will not become dirty with sin because we will.
WE ARE NOT JESUS
We will ask for forgiveness but we will become dirty again.
This week don’t reflect on all the wrong doings and how to change it but reflect on the good things that happened to you this year. How can we continue to achieve the GREAT COMMISSION.
Close with this
2 Corinthians 13:11–14 ESV
Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
