· 33 viewsThe "reason for the season" is Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas is found in its name — Christ's Mass. Christ is translated from the Greek word christos, which is translated from the Hebrew word Mashiach — the English equivalent would be Messiah. Christ or Messiah (Mashiach) means: One who is Anointed with Oil. The other compound word for Christmass is "mass". It is from the Latin word missa from which we get the English word mission. Therefore, Christmas is about Christ being sent on a mission — motivated by the love of God (Luke 1:35; John 3:16). In the same way, the love of God should motivate us to have the mind of Christ and FINISH STRONG with a willingness to be sent. (Philippians 2:5-11; Philippians 3:13-14)
