Sermon Notes
Luke 1:46–56 (NKJV)
46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation.
51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty.
54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy,
55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.”

Sermon Outline
Christmas is the story of the birth of Jesus Christ.
It is a story of how God, be came a man and saves those who believe in Him.
It is also a story of God’s providential care for humanity and the means by which He deliversthose who believe.
It is a story of how God for knew and foreplanned to offer His Son as a sacrifice in order to redeem those in whome He calls.
It is a story of how God chose a poor humble girl named Mary and miraculously concieved in her the Son of God.
Mary, by the world’s standards was a nobody.
Even in her time, she was no one of major significance apart from lineage.
Yet God took this poor, unpopular virgin and changed her life forever by giving her not just a son, but the Son of God.
I want to focus this morning on her response in praise to God.
What we will see are the words of someone who was nobody of popularity and yet was used to bring Jesus into the world.
Because of Mary, you and I get to carry on the legacy of her Son and our Saviour.
In Mary’s gratitute, she speaks this Word of praise for all of us to read and take in.
In Christ we truly are the blessed ones in this world.
Yet how do we show appreciation for all God has done in us?
Lets learn from mary’s expression of gratitude for her situation in which she was in.
Her expression of praise.
(46-47)
Her expression of reverence.
