Emmanuel, which means: God with us

INTRODUCTION
Good morning and welcome to our Christmas service. Christmas is a time were people celebrate many things. But for us as believers in Jesus Christ, it is a time for us to come together to worship our King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Emmanuel, which means God with us.
LET US PRAY
God had a plan that would redeem His people, who had been separated from Him due to the sin of Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden.
Gods plan, was that He, through Christ Jesus would come to the earth, live a life without sin and make a way to salvation for us. The bible tells us, God loved His people so much that He sent His only Son to redeem them.
John 3:16–17 NLT
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave* his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
Luke 2:11 NLT
11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!
Matthew 1:18–25 NLT
18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. 20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: 23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’ ” 24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. 25 But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.
Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son
1. Matthew 1:18 - The origin of Jesus the Messiah was like this
2. Matthew 1:19 - Joseph was a righteous man, he was obedient
What I love about this is both Joseph and Mary were obedient to the plan and will of God in what was asked of them
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus today, let us consider Gods plan and will for our lives
3. Matthew 1:21 - Jesus is our form of Moses and Joshua, which means the Lord saves.
Jesus is our savior. The bible says that if we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts
4. Matthew 1:23 - The birth of Jesus Christ was foretold in the book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 7:14 NLT
14 All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).
Well, I know Christmas is the season of giving and we take time to choose the gifts that we are going to give to our love ones, and sometimes its difficult to decide. However, I will remind us that all God wants from us is our hear, to accept His gift to us. Jesus is His gift, remember Jesus is the reason for the season.
