A Baby’s Face

Everyone goes gaga when they see a baby; sometimes, even literally. There’s something irresistible about a baby’s face Maybe that’s why so many of us feel sentimental about a crèche. Even though the manger is a feed trough; the cave is a barn, back room of a house. Our sentiments threaten to overwhelm us. That’s OK.

Just remember

In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors through the prophets;
in these last days, he spoke to us through a son, whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe,
whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe,
(He is)
… the refulgence of his glory,
the very imprint of his being,
All the majesty, power, glory, brilliance and light of God Not even in a man but in this baby who can’t even wipe his own … chin.

This is God’s Face

Look at the face of the child and see the face of God the face of the man he became the face of the man who suffered rejection, torture and execution for you - that’s how much he loves you!
Look at the face of the child and see your face - that’s how much he loves you!
Look again and see the faces of those around you; those who live and work here the faces of everyone in the street, in the high rises around us here, in the cold, unsafe and overcrowded homes across the city, everywhere -
Whatever you did for them, you did for me.
That’s how much he loves them!
God, the Word of God, was incarnate and became man look on his face and know his love! Take strength from him for your life and work.
Bring that love with you and share it; today; every day.
God Bless you! Have a blessed and refreshing Christmas holiday!
