What a Savior Is.
I. Intro Using Examples
a. Visitor from above
b. Dwelt among us
c. Died
d. Came back to life
e. Ascended into heaven
f. only son of father
g. came down from heaven
h. performed many wonderful acts to save people
i. died
j. returned from death
k. born of a virgin
l. spent time in the temple
m. destroyed the forces of darkness
n. gave his life so that others might life
II. What is difference between this and Jesus?
a. He is real
b. He really did these things
c. But there is more to him..
III. What is a savior?
a. What thoughts and images come to mind?
b. What emotions are there?
c. To be sure our savior did all the things mentioned above (creed)
d. It is important to not just see him as something distant that performed acts. But in addition to what he did, to remember who he is.
IV. Using the service and the lesson, let’s talk about what our savior is.
a. He is compassionate (order of forgiveness and prayers)
b. He is Victorious (Creed)
c. Present (Communion)
d. Includes us in his work (Blessing and Sending)
V. Read Lesson
a. In him is life. And it is True Life
b. True life is not about living for ourselves, but living for him
c. In that life we will be more fulfilled than we ever would be living for ourselves, because when we live the way he would have us live, we are living the way life was meant to be lived.
d. He is compassionate
e. On the mountain he is transfigured. His face shines. His clothes are white.
f. This shows that he is God.
g. The presence of Moses and Elijah and what that means.
h. It reassures that the one we follow is more than just a mere mortal.
i. Our savior is victorious.
j. He is compassionate.
k. We see this in the story of the little boy.
l. Both in his interaction with the boy and his dealing with the disciples.
m. How do you hear his dealings with the disciples?
n. He is present. There working. And he is Present here working too.
o. He must suffer and die and be brought back to life.
p. The physical acts that save us. He is a money where your mouth is kind of guy.
q. Anyone claims to be a savior, well first they have to rise from the dead.
r. Why are the disciples very sad?
VI. Our savior is compassionate, victorious, present, and includes us in his work. We get the blessings and privilege of knowing him and telling about him.
