Exodus 10:1-20
No One Left Behind
No One Left Behind
A continued purpose
A continued purpose
Exodus 10:1–2 (TESB): The Lord wanted Israel to realize that the miracles weren’t merely for the Egyptians—they were also for their sake. Israelites in the generations to come were to tell their offspring how the Lord had powerfully judged their enemies, so that they might know and revere the Lord (10:2). Similarly, Christian parents are to pass on their faith to their children (see Eph 6:4).
God wanted His people to know that these plagues were not just about a moment of judgement on Pharaoh and Egypt, but wisdom for future generations.
1. His overruling power in the Kingdom of nature.
2. His victorious power over the Kingdom of Satan.
Exodus 10:1–11 (MHCWB:CUOV): These plagues are standing monuments of the greatness of God, the happiness of the church, and the sinfulness of sin, and standing monitors to the children of men in all ages not to provoke the Lord to jealousy nor to strive with their Maker. The benefit of these instructions to the world sufficiently balances the expense.
The Plague of Locus
The Plague of Locus
• Destroyed all vegetation the hail left behind.
• Locusts is a clear sign of Judgement.
• Moses leaving abruptly shows the "take it or leave it" position God was taking.
• Notice the plea and plan of Pharaoh's servants. (7)
Current Compromises (vv 7-11)
Current Compromises (vv 7-11)
• Worship God in the land (8:25-27)
• Don't go too far away (8:28)
• NOW- Only the men should go (10:7-11)
• Exodus 5–10 (WEOOT): This meant leaving the wives and children in the world. Faith involves the whole family, not the men only. It is the privilege of the husband and father to lead the family into the blessings of the Lord.
• Satan will always be behind the plan of compromise.
• Eamples:
1. Jonah
2. Abraham & Hagar
3. Kadesh Barnia
• Illustration: Spiritual compromise is a dark ally you don't want to take your family down.
Family
Family
• Pharaoh was clever in only wanting the men to go and leave their families behind.
• It was a sure bet that the men would return.
• Moses knew that God's desire was for future generations to know Him fully.
• God is able to deliver the entire family!
• He is the life source for the family.
• God places a strong emphasis on the family unit serving and worshiping together.
• Never will you find in God original plan a single mom having to do all the spiritual lifting.
• There are no difference of value between men and women, but there are differences in roles.
• The two working together creates an atmosphere wherespiritual growth has no ceiling.
