Forgiven

The New Revised Standard Version The New Life in Christ

As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

What I want to help you understand today is that you are blessed and chosen ones. At one time many of us, if not all, were condemned. Today we should rejoice. We acknowledge that we have been clothed with the righteousness of Christ Jesus. Because of this great mercy we should now live lives that reflect who we now have living in us.

13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Next week we will discuss the Star Word. Last week we discussed the birth of Jesus our Savior. Shouldn’t we talk this week about how we should live. How we should start out our new year?

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

This message is about new beginnings. We have been reminded that we are clothed with Christ Jesus who was brought to us to save us. 12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (Col 3:12–14). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
Perfect Harmony. How many of you here today believe that we are living in such a harmony? Should we not try harder? Perhaps today is the day that you put off anger malice and unforgivenness and bear the fruit of Christ who lives in you.

17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
