14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Complete Being
Ge 2.7 “7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Mk 12.28-31 “28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”
1 Th 5.23 “23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Priesthood required for mediation between God and men
The OT law, with a human priesthood, was determined to be useless in perfecting people
On the other hand, a better hope was introduced with Jesus as a new high priest (after the order of Melchisedec)
This priesthood, and this hope, continue forever as a guarantee of a better covenant v.21-24
For this reason, he is able to save to the uttermost
Uttermost: total, complete; always and forever
Complete Conversion
Complete Conversion
Ac 2.38 “38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Repentance
Literally: “change your mind”
Generally, confess and forsake sin Pr 28.13.
Turn from your own will, and turn to the will of God
Repentance is a conversion of the mind
Baptism
Baptism is a physical burial (in water) and rising up (out of the water) to a new way of living.
Rm 6.3-4 “3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Paul’s conversion experience included baptism as a response to the call of God on his life:
Ac 22.12-15 “12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, 13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.”
Ac 22.16 “16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”
Spirit infilling
Our spirit is quickened by the Spirit of the living God.

Have been saved
Ep 2.5-8 “5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Are being saved
1 Co 1.18 “18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
He 10.14 “14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”
14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
Shall be saved
Mk 13.13 “13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
Rm 5.9-10 “9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”
The life of Jesus Christ will keep us all the way through from reconciliation until full redemption
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
