After I became a Christian, I wanted to tell everyone about Jesus. I was committed to reaching everyone. I read books, listened to cassettes (I know that shows my age) you younger people before there was cds, dvds, and ipods, we used cassettes which always caught in the heads of the machine. You know what I mean. I read book, listened to cassettes, and ask other people how to share my faith. I became a shark. I learned these plans, and I was always looking for new blood. Anyone was a target, from the poor guy at the filling station, to the men who worked with me. I would circle with my Bible, and then move in. Surprise of surprise, they began to avoid me like a shark. Sharks scare people.
Now, some people are not sharks, they are piranas. They take their big black bible and beat people into submission. They are eating people alive. Where sharks scare people, paranas eat people.
I soon discovered begin a shark or paranas is not the best way to share my faith.
Perhaps you are discovered that as well. Maybe, you are like me, and after you were burnt a few times, you just retreated, never to say anything again. Like me, you have friends who need Jesus, but you are afraid to talk to them, again. Maybe you say, I don’t know my Bible well enough. What if they ask me a question I can’t answer. What if I ask them to accept Jesus as their savior, and they say NO! What would I do then? This morning I suggest the passage just read to you might have an answer for us.
1. Spread the Seed.
2. Trust the process.
3. Be ready to harvest.
