Grandma’s Pantry
I think this is a grandma thing...
I’m not sure if my grandma was the only one but...
I always had to check the expiration date when I ate food at my grandma’s house.
They seemed to hold onto food way past the expiration date.
When I say way past, I’m not talking about a few days, or a few months, but years...
Sometimes even a decade past the expiration date.
Apparently my grandmother not only like antique furniture, but antique food as well...
I would be like… “Grandma, I don’t think this is good anymore...”
She’d say, “oh honey canned green beans don’t go bad...”
Grandma, this bread is way past the expiration date.
Oh, honey, they make bread with lots of preservatives in it.
But it has mold on it.
Just cut off the bad part.
Today,
we celebrate the opposite
Newness
Freshness
Happy New Year!
At Grocery Store,
Everyone was greeting me:
Happy New Year!
Big Smile
Actually happy
Why?
Why does that make
us so happy?
Get to party?
Why do we celebrate?
In human psyche
something desirable
about new year...
The hope of
bright future
perhaps
desire to
leave behind bad
God has implanted
this desire in
human heart.
To long for freshness
newness
righteousness
The First Test
In the beginning
God created
Everything new
Perfect
did not die
rot
mold
etc.
Only one test
to stay that way
If they choose God
everything remains
perfect and
new.
If they choose self
everything changes
God wanted perfection
always new
no death...
But you know the rest of the story
We chose death
instead of life
We chose decay
instead of
We chose decomposition
instead of
We chose
decomposition
spoilage
purification
The First Wilt
I imagine it hit them
they pick a flower
in hours it is wilted...
They never saw
death
decay
until now...
God placed in our heart
promise of
newness...
We long for it!!!
God has prepared it
Newness
regeneration
Promise
New Heaven
New Earty
Promises Fulfilled
Greatest Promise
“I make all things new”
No more brokenness of this life...
Previous verse:
No more brokenness
in fact
