Eat
As we gather tonight, we are going to do something different.
We are going to share a meal together and THEN partake of the Lord’s Supper.
Kind of the sequence of what happened when Jesus gave Hiss Supper.

Events at the Last Supper
Luke 22:15-16, Matthew 26:21-29, John 13:22-30
Harmony of the Gospels: Concerning the Greatest Life Ever Lived.
And Jesus said to them, "With great longing have I desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I shall not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."
And as they were eating, Jesus said, "I tell you truly, one of you will betray me."
And they were very sorrowful, and began to say to him, one after another, "Is it I, Lord?"
"One who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me," answered Jesus. "The Son of Man will go, of course, as it was written of him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born."
Then Judas, who betrayed him, said, "Is it I, Master?"
"As you say," said Jesus.
The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom Jesus had spoken. One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was leaning against his breast. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him and said, "Tell us who it is of whom he is speaking."
Leaning thus against the breast of Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?"
"It is the one to whom I give this sop after I dip it," replied Jesus.
And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot; and after Judas took the sop, Satan entered into him.
"What you are going to do, do quickly," said Jesus.
None of the others sitting at the table knew why Jesus said this to him. Because Judas had charge of the money bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him, "Buy what we need for the festival," or that he should give something to the poor. And he took the sop and went out at once, and it was night.
Pray over meal
Talk to one another about 2021.
Talk about the Lord.
Pray
Thank you for coming tonight.
Before we partake of the Lord’s Supper together, let’s pray for and about the coming year.
Let’s go around the room. (If you don’t want to pray out-loud, touch the person’s arm next to you to let them know they can pray.)
The Lord’s Supper
In keeping with the theme of the Gospel accounts of the Lord’s Supper, we know that preparations we made before they sat down to eat.
Prepare
12 On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, His disciples said to Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 13 And He sent two of His disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him; 14 and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ 15 “And he himself will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; prepare for us there.” 16 The disciples went out and came to the city, and found it just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
In the same way, let us prepare for the Lord’s Supper, by preparing our hearts to partake in a right spirit, with clean hearts.

Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them.
"All of you drink of it," he said. "This is my blood of the covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins. I say to you, I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom."

He’s Coming Back
Where did Jesus go after His Supper?
Matthew 26:30 (NASB) After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Where is Jesus going to physically appear when He returns?
2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. 4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. 5 You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!
