New Years Resolutions
Problem-new year new me/better me
We
You may participate in these things as well
God
Pray: May the words of my mouth and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing to you, O Lord our rock and our redeemer.
20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!—
21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,
22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
We need to look at what is true in scripture
Put off how you were
This is a singular event when we become a believer
Need to make sure it stays there and that it doesnt come back
Difficult times brings it back
In the New Year we look to be better.
This is not in your power that you are a new you but in Christ that you are transformed into a new creation
We must put on the new self which is created in the likeness of God
True righteousness and holiness
Be imitators of me as I am of Christ - Paul
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
G3 reading
Seeking to grow not in my own understanding but in the word of God
Do not look to twist it, but be changed by it
You
We are made new in Jesus Christ
Look to be transformed in Christ and the word of God
We
Let us embrace becoming better not by our own doing or any kind of resolutions, but by the power of Christ.
