What celebrity do you know BEST?

Do any celebrities know you?

Whats the difference between you knowing a celebrity and a celebrity knowing you?

Now lets translate that to a relationship with God, what does it mean to know God?

You are made to KNOW GOD

John 17.3 ““This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

Jeremiah 9.23-24 “Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.”

You were made to KNOW GOD

If HUMANS are made to know God, does everyone know God? Why not?

So then how can we know God if we have sinned?

Rom 5.8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

we can know God ONLY because he loved us when we hated Him and died for us.

Now we read earlier that this isn’t just any relationship ITS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE because knowing God is eternal life, those who don’t know God therefore do not have eternal life.

ALSO, knowing God is what we were literally designed and created to do.

This is why there is a consequence for those who do not know God but rather choose to love their sin.

What is a fridge created to do?

What is sunscreen created to do?

What is a car created to do?

God sees His creation disobeying Him in the same way, useless, broken and needing to be thrown away and destroyed.

NOW conversely FOR those who DO KNOW GOD - they are blessed, they have eternal life, they have joy AND they have reason to BOAST!

Now we said in order to Know God YOU MUST REPENT and BELIEVE in Jesus Christ - life death and resurrection.

BUT would you say that every believer KNOWS GOD the same? Why?

How then do we know God better?

Fellowship with the saints

Pray

You were made to KNOW GOD

Some of you do not know him and need to recognize you are not doing what you were designed to do, You are not fulfilling your destiny - you’re a broken fridge, a motorless car that will be destroyed if you do not respond to the grace of God shown to you in Christ - turn and place your faith in Him

Others need to take serious action and resolve to do some of the things YOU just listed to grow closer to Christ

We will talk more about that on Wednesday BUT for now you are going to go to mall groups, create some plans for regular discipleship - and also begin to form specific, personal goals to do what you were made to do KNOW GOD.
