The Apostle John, was the disciple, Jesus seem to favor. The other disciples seemed a little jealous, at times. On several occasions, John was found next to Jesus, where it was said,”the disciple whom Jesus loved.” John 21:7
On the other hand, the Apostle Peter seemed to of had some struggles getting Jesus’es approval John 21:15-19 We also read here in the Gospel of John, how Jesus approach Peter asking him Three time, “if you love me” John 21:20-23
I believe, Jesus’es love for Peter, did this, to help comfort Peter in his anguish over denying Him at the trial, besides getting him back on the path as a disciple Prov 3:5-6
We know John to be the writter of this Gospel John 21:24-25 I believe he added the parts about Peter to help us know Jesus better. I believe scipture is given to us to know Jesus better
John also states, at the end of this Gospel, how if everything was written about Jesus, while he was here the world could not contain all that was written.
This leads me into our main theme,”Understanding, in our day, The Revelation of Jesus Christ.
Here again,we have the Disciple whom Jesus loved writting about what has to be the hardest of all doctrines of the bible----the subject of last things, better known as Eschatology---things that havn’t happened yet!
John will again in a most dynamic way show Jesus as Thee King, Lord, Majestic and Awesome in all His Lordship. John will show us way we should be afraid on one hand but excited on the other. We will in-fact be blessed for taking the time to read this awesome Book of Revelation. Although, John will write some things that take us back to his day to try and decipher some of the images we shall incounter.
