Isaiah 43:18–21 KJV 1900
Remember ye not the former things, Neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; Now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, And rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, The dragons and the owls: Because I give waters in the wilderness, And rivers in the desert, To give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; They shall shew forth my praise.
As we enter a New Year, I feel it is appropriate to reflect on God's Word concern the very heart of God since the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden.
Like a parent that lost a child to an enemy that wishes them no good.
It has always been God’s heart to restore, redeem, and renew His children.
The prophet Isaiah made it clear- As he foretold that God has a plan to redeem his people.
At the time of Isaiah’s writing God’s people were in captivity. The captivity happened because of Israel's disobedience and lack of trust and the hardness of the heart of men.
Spiritual captivity and depravity occurs when people fail to honor God
On the other hand, spiritual freedom, peace, and purpose are given to those that allow have faith trust and obey God.
Allow God to do a new thing through you- Let cooperate with -work jointly and in harmony with God.
Let's break old bad habits by creating new habits that are alignment with God
Let’s discover and fulfill our God-given purpose
Let’s build God's church by being an ambassador of God's kingdom.
Let’s walk into our true identity in Christ
Do not remember the former things: Isaiah 43:18
Isaiah 43:18 KJV 1900
Remember ye not the former things, Neither consider the things of old.
===== The word ‘remember” in scripture often is connected with a covenant
Example rainbow Gen 9: 15
Genesis 9:15 KJV 1900
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 KJV 1900
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
Luke 23:42–43 KJV 1900
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Philippians 3:13–14 KJV 1900
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Therefore for God to do a new thing we must break from, crucify, separate, and put to death the old ties, covenant, and agreement we have with old nature.
Change must begin from within- We can learn from the past but we cannot live in the past.
2. Seek for and look forward to the New Thing that God has for you. Isaiah 43: 19-20
Isaiah 43:19–20 KJV 1900
Behold, I will do a new thing; Now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, And rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, The dragons and the owls: Because I give waters in the wilderness, And rivers in the desert, To give drink to my people, my chosen.
Hunger for it, thirst for it
Meditate- think about, study His promise
God will - make a way of escape 1 Cor 10:13
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV 1900
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
3 Celebrate, Praise, - Delight yourself in the Lord (Isaiah 43:21 “This people have I formed for myself; They shall shew forth my praise.”
1 Peter 2:9–10 (KJV 1900)
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Psalm 37:4 KJV 1900
Delight thyself also in the Lord; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
