The Hard Work of Those in Ministry
The Hard Work of Those in Ministry
Colossians 1:29
unto what also I toil, while striving according to the energizing of Him, the One energizing in me in inherent ability
Presenting each one mature in Christ, Colossians 1:28
Colossians 1:28
Who we openly proclaim while admonishing all men and teaching all men in all wisdom, in order that we should present every man mature in Christ,
Not by his own energy, but by the one energizing him
God works in us to do His will, Philippians 2:13
Philippians 2:13 (NKJV)
for it is God who works in you both to desirously will and to do for His good pleasure.
He is able to go beyond anything we ask, Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Understanding the great struggle Paul had for them
Understanding the great struggle Paul had for them
Colossians 2:1 (NKJV)
For I desire you to intuitively know how great a struggle I have concerning you and the ones in Laodicea and as many as have not seen my face in the flesh
Struggle or agony is used to describe the activities of one who is contending
Paul preaching the gospel even after being beaten, 1 Thessalonians 2:2
But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict.
We have a great crowd of witnesses concerning faith in God around us that should impact the way we struggle, Hebrews 12:1
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
We are to agonize with the proper fight, 1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Holding to the faith - teaching the truth of the dispensations and the Christ, 2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Encouraging Others
Encouraging Others
in order that their hearts should be encouraged, having been knit together in love and into all the riches of the full confidence of understanding into a full experiential knowledge of the mystery of God the father even the Christ, Colossians 2:2
Knit together in love
We are knit together with Christ, 1 Corinthians 2:16
For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Within the body of the Christ, we are knit together, Ephesians 4:16
from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
Having full confidence
Filled up where lacking
In Wisdom
The Gospel message comes with full assurance, 1 Thessalonians 1:5
For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.
On the basis of hope, Hebrews 6:11
And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end,
Drawing near to God because of full confidence, Hebrews 10:22
let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
In understanding
Not based upon worldly views, 1 Corinthians 1:19
For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
Spiritual understanding, Colossians 1:9
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Full Experiential Knowledge
Unbelievers don’t want God in their full experiential knowledge, Romans 1:28
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
The law brings a full experiential knowledge of the sin nature, Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Our full experiential knowledge comes from spiritual wisdom and understanding, Ephesians 1:17, Philippians 1:9
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,
God desires that all come to a full experiential knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:4
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Those who are always learning but never coming to a full experiential knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 3:7
Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Led away by various desires
Not having victory over the sin nature
The Mystery of the God even the Christ
The Mystery is The Christ
The new creation, 2 Corinthians 5:17
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
So that since someone is in Christ; a new creation, the archaic things have passed away, behold all things have become new
One body, 1 Corinthians 12:12
1 Corinthians 12:12
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.
Sharing the toil so that others can be encouraged, knit together in love, through full assurance of understanding coming to a full experiential knowledge of the mystery of the Christ
