The word genesis means beginning, and the book of Genesis is all about beginnings, starting with the beginning of the universe itself.
John Haldone, a scientist, once suggested to Monsignor Knox that in a universe containing millions of planets it was inevitable that life would appear by chance on one of them. “Sir,” said Knox, “if Scotland Yard found a body in your Saratoga trunk, would you tell them, ‘There are millions of trunks in the world—surely one of them must contain a body’? I think they still would want to know who put it there.”
Genesis 1:31 NIV84
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

God

In the very beginning God already was.
Isaac Newton is quoted as saying, ‘This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets,’ he wrote, ‘could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being.’ ”

Saw all He had made

God saw all – from the vastness of the universe to the subatomic particles
Everything working together in harmony
` God made everything for Himself to enjoy, not for us to use
Still sees everything

Very good

Good - pleasing
On the first day God sees the light, and it was good
On the third day God separated the water from the land, and it was good
Then God had the land produce vegetation, and it was good
On the fourth day God created the sun and moon and stars, and it was good
The fifth day saw the water populated with sea creatures and the air with birds, and it was good
On day six God created living creatures to cover the land, and it was good
Then God created humans in His own image and blessed them
After all this was finished God looked at everything and pronounced it very good.
Complete
Well-ordered
Abounding in life-forms, variety, beauty
Under the watch care of royal humanity

Our response

For us to receive and give thanks
1 Timothy 4:4 NIV84
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
For us to take care of as stewards
