Hebrews 11:7 “7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
Faith is so very important in our lives! It can’t be over stated! How is your faith? What is the state of your faith? We’re going to learn some wonderful things about faith in one short verse today.
The story of Noah and his Ark are a real and true story!
Jesus said they were real!
Matt 24:37 “37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
The Story of Noah’s ark isn’t a “cute” story. Theres a lot of tragic death. Bodies everywhere.
8 people in a box with a bunch of animals .
As we go through this story there is a whole lot we can learn and believe about faith that can really and truly help our faith!

Hebrews 11:7 “7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
Noah faith started in response to God’s word!
God spake to Noah
Genesis 6:13 “13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”
“Destruction is coming”
Not only did God’s words to him contain judgement but they too contained grace!
God’s told him of a way to be delivered!
There was Grace!- Unmerited favor
Genesis 6:8 “8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
Genesis 6:14 “14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.”
Noah heard about how bad they were and how to be delivered!
He had a choice to respond to what God had said.
Trust God? or Not?
He decided to trust what God had said and trust his was of being delivered!
Trusting God’s way saved him!
Hebrews 11:7 “7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
Whats your response to God’s word?
Your response to God’s word is determined by your faith!
See faith actually comes by God’s word
Romans 10:17 “17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
What is your response to God’s message the Gospel?
James 1:21 “21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”
Hebrews 4:2-4 “2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
You can hear the message from God but for it to WORK in you, you must have faith in it!
Not only did Noah believe God’s message but his faith in God’s message moved him to do something!
Noah Moved!
Noah Moved!
“Being moved with fear”
faith in God ought to cause major change! He couldn’t go on the same after knowing and believing God’s message!
His faith moved him
Faith should move us too!
James 2:26 “26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
When he heard and believed what God was going to do his priorities shifted!
J. D. Greear Sermon Archive Mission: Genesis 6
Imagine the difference from this point on in how Noah saw the world: Every person he saw was headed for destruction.
○ The house he had built wouldn’t be there for very long.
○ The things he created would soon be gone.
○ Everybody he knew would either be saved on the ark or destroyed in the flood.
He prepared the ark!
having never seen rain!
What had mattered to him before stopped mattering!
He preached!
2 Peter 2:5 “5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;”
He obeyed!
Did what God wanted!
Is our faith dead? If we really believe the thing of God are we living like it?
James 2:26 “26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
I know you say you believe the gospel, but do you really believe it? Does the urgency that dominates your lifestyle demonstrate that you believe it?
I know that your mouth says you believe the gospel, but does what do your priorities, your lifestyle, your giving show that you believe it?
All of this could happen because of God’s mercy!
All of this could happen because of God’s mercy!
- God delivered Noah! Not because he was anything special. He just had faith in God’s message
Noah Worshipped in a response to God’s goodness to him
Gen 9
God wants to deliver you too!
See just like in Noah’s day destruction is coming!
2 Peter 3:7 “7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”
Not with another flood but fire.
Jesus can deliver us from that! Just like Noah had faith and got on the ark, have faith and trust Jesus!
John 3:18 “18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Those of us here that do believe. How are our priorities? Is our faith alive?
Are we waring others like Noah?
How’s your faith? Is it unsinkable like Noah’s?
