We live in a world where everything is about me. But the church is a place a sacrificial community. They were devoted to.....

sold what they had to provide for the needs of other (key: they were close enough to know each others needs)
WE NEED EACH OTHER
1 Corinthians 12:4–7 (CSB)
4 Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are different activities, but the same God works all of them in each person. 7 A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good:
devoted=continuously devoting (not a one time act) (imperfect active)
We must be stewards of our time.
Ephesians 5:15–17 CSB
15Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—16making the most of the time, because the days are evil. 17So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
SOUND DOCTRINE-Right teaching (v 42)
qualified men taught the Word for the spiritual development of all
Christ alone is the head of the church but He has appointed leaders to care for His church (this is my job).
2 Timothy 3:16–17 CSB
16All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Matthew 28:20 CSB
20teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
FELLOWSHIP (v. 46-47)
meeting at the temple
Jewish custom
this was perhaps missional
Acts 5:42 CSB
42Every day in the temple, and in various homes, they continued teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
This gives us insight into what was said at these places. (this was the apostles after they were freed from jail for preaching)
Meeting in the houses
preaching and sharing life as examples
breaking bread (Lord’s supper)
THE LORD ADDED
It was when the church was simply being the church (they were still a young church) that the Lord added to the number.
Let us plan but more importantly let us be faithful.
