Well, good morning and welcome to New Grace Baptist Church and we are so glad that you are here today. I'm recording this on Sunday morning, January 9th, of course, is everyone knows we have cancelled church for the last 2 weeks, because of the covid. And hopefully, we can get back together at church in the near future. But what I thought I would do is I would finish our series that we started back in October. I believe on on angels and, and this is it here. Angels Messengers from God. I thought that I would finish that The day and then when we do get back together at church, we can probably start a new series and I do want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We were not able to meet last week first Sunday of the new year. So I hope everyone's had a good New Year and I hope you have a prosperous and safe and successful 2022. Matter fact, when we get back together at church. I think I'm going to preach a new year sermon on on how to be prosperous and successful this year and somebody's going to say what he's the Prosperity Gospel preachers Prosperity, but I guarantee it will be biblical. But today, I want us to finish up on our series Angels Messengers from God and today the sermon title. Is angels and you and what I want to do today is basically this is kind of going to be a recap and and I'm going to give you tea and cruise but I'll talk more about that in a moment. So let's look at our definition that we have used in this series for angels, and I'm going to put it up on the screen here and here's our definition. That's kind of short, but I think it gets right to the point. Angels are intelligent moral and Spiritual Beings created by God who worship Him and carry out his wheel and purposes in heaven and on Earth. So this is our definition of angels, their moral intelligent their Spiritual Beings, even though Angels do appear sometime in physical form and we talked about that, but they were created by God all were created at the same time and they were created to glorify. I am to worship Him and they carry out his will and purpose is not only in heaven, but on Earth as well. So one of the reasons that I I wanted to do a series on Angels because several years ago, so probably been actually a couple of decades ago. There was just a flood of a books and materials on the secular Market about angels and probably in the last couple of decades, has been over a hundred books written on angels and a lot of it is speculative and fantasy and kind of wild-eyed stories that, you know, have filled magazines and movie theaters and television programs. And I know most of you remember, maybe some of you remember. I think it was back in the 90s, the TV program Touched by an Angel. Some of you probably watch that the people are really interested in angels. And and talk about it as never before, but we need to ask ourselves as we see. All this information is this new interest in angels? Is it a return to biblical truth about these Messengers? Or is it just another? Something in the growing number of spiritual fads in our culture. In other words is an old truth that's being Revisited or is it really new age teaching, this being repackaged? So if you will, remember, let's briefly kind of go over what we've talked about so far, Angel, if you remember we started with Angel Mania and and we said, they're how, you know, the United States and all over the world is just a has magnified angels and they really a lot of secular books have been written about them. And so we talked about that in our first lesson in this series and and we talked about how angels are to guide us and encourage Us in to they deliver us and they Empower us. So we kind of got a Biblical concept of angels and then we asked a question in our second sermon what are angels and we talked about their crew. Haitian in their substance, and we said that they are innumerable. There's there's a number of them but it's just probably in the millions and millions and how angels are also Immortal angels, Don't Die. Maybe that's something that you learned in this series that you didn't know. Before, for the most part. The angel are the angels are invisible and they're Invincible as well. So we talked about what Angels were in their creation and their substance and then next week, talked about angels that you may know and we looked at the different categories of angels in the Bible. Sometimes they were called host. And remember there was the seraphim and there was the cherubim and remember, they were two angels mentioned in the bible, Michael and Gabriel. So we talked about them and then we had a lesson on, Guardian Angels, you know, a lot of people believe that they have a guardian angel that is specifically assigned to them. And I'm not saying that you don't, it seems in scripture when Angels would come God could call on any angels and most time he would call on the number of Angels at one time. Not just one. But again, you know, we see a lot of books and material written on guardian angels. And we looked at what the Bible said about that. Well, then, of course, we had to also look at Lucifer and he was the Fallen Angel. And course, we were talking about Satan, and we study the scriptures in the Old Testament about where I'll Satan was kicked out of heaven. If you remember, the reason he was kicked out was because of his pride. He wanted to be like God, he wanted to take God's place. And then after that, we talked about Hells Angels or demons and we talked about what they do in our lives in and how they promote the purposes of Satan. But also how God can use. I am sometimes to promote his own purposes and we talked about how we talked about demon possession and said that, you know, a Christian cannot be demon possessed because we have the Holy Spirit living within us, but we can be demon oppressed. And so we talked about the role of demons. In the next, we talked about angels and death. Then we looked at how the Bible describes death. And then we looked at the role that the angel seem to have in death that when a Believer dies. It is the Angels who come in a rusher in to Heaven. We'll talk more about that in the lesson today. And then we looked at this special angel in the Bible called the angel of the Lord who seem to be almost Divine. And remember, we said that this was probably the pre incarnate appearance of Christ in the Old Testament. Remember the angel of the Lord appeared to Moses. Is an Abraham and Hagar and Jacob in the nation of Israel. So we talked about this special Angel of the Lord. And then the last time we talked about angels in Jesus and how Angels were involved in the life of Jesus. And remember the Angels announced his birth, the Angels administered to him in his temptation early in his ministry. Remember the Angels were with him and guess, simony and minister to him. They were the ones that I announced kids Resurrection. When the lady showed up at the to remember, it was the Angels who carried him to heaven in his Ascension and there were also Angels On The Ground, they're speaking to those around and so they were involved in his birth and get simony in his resurrection in the Ascension. And if you look at the Bible, they will be involved in. The Rapture as they'll be the voice of an archangel when the dead in Christ, rise, and then when Christ comes back in his second coming, the Bible says that he's going to be coming with his Angel. So it's very important that we understand the ministry of angels because they're so prominent in the Bible, especially in the Life of Christ. Well today, what I want us to talk about is angels in you and slow. What I'm going to do is I'm going to give you today. 10 of the major throughs that we have learned as we studied about angels, and is some amazing things about angels that I hope that you won't forget. I know we've talked about a lot of things, but I've just kind of broken it down and I'm only give you 10, major throughs that we need to remember about angel. So, we'll go through these quickly. Today. We're going to have some scripture with each one. I'll make a few comments about it, but we'll try to get through this pretty quickly. So here's .1. It is simply this that Angels render worship to God, but they are to never receive worship. Now. Let's look at the s in Revelation. Chapter 5 verses 11 and 12. And this is what the Bible says. Then I looked and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne the living creatures. And the elders and the number of them was 10000 * 10000 and 5000 of thousands saying with a loud voice. So here are the Angels around the throne and it says the number of them was 10000 * 10000 and 5000 of flat. And they were saying with a loud voice. And what were they saying with a loud voice? Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength, and honor and glory and blessing. So, hear the angels and John is able to go up into heaven and see this around the throne and he said, they was just a myriad of angels everywhere. And they were saying, Worthy is the Lamb. So, in other words, they were worshiping God. Now, if we have A desire for angels that is greater than a desire for our creator. Then that will lead us to trouble. And look how Colossians 2 + 18 says this. Let no one cheat, you of your reward, taking the light in false humility and worship of angels intruding into those things, which he has not seen vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind. So it says, taking the light in false humility and the worship of angels. So we know that we are to never worship Angels. Now, someone said one reason why angels are invisible to humans. Maybe because if we were able to see him, we would probably fall down and worship them. Why? Because well, we're so prone to eye Dollar Tree. We're so prone to worship the The Works of our own hands. It would probably be hard. For us to resist, the worship of Angels, were they before us? And if you remember in the Book of Revelation, John, he saw angels twice and it says that he fell down to worship them. And remember what the angel said to say, John. Nope. Don't do that. You worship God twice. They told him worship. God, not us. We're just fellow servants. Just like, you are. So both times. He was told not to worship the angel but to worship God. So, the first point is Angels render worse, but we are to never worship Angels. We're never to give them worship at all. They were created by God just like we were and they have a purpose just like we do they our fellas servants with us. All right, let's go to point number two. And that is this the second truth. I want you to remember, Angels rejoice. In Salvation.

But they cannot receive it. So Angels rejoice in Salvation, but they cannot receive it. Look what Luke 15 verse 10 says, he says, likewise I say to you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. So in other words, Angels rejoice in Salvation in the reason they rejoice and it's because they cannot experience it. Remember, they're not human. Like we are they don't need to be saved. They were created. They are innumerable. They are invisible. They are Immortal, so they don't need salvation, but they see what God has done for humankind. And it says that there's joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. So when someone repents and is saved, Heaven hasn't the angels. Rejoicing in heaven, they're having a party in heaven. So they were Joyce about salvation, but they can never experience it the best they can do. It's kind of look into it. And this is what Peter said. In other words, angels are intrigued by salvation. Look how Peter put it in 1st, Peter, 1 to 1:12. He said to them, it was revealed that not to themselves, but to us, they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you. By the Holy Spirit Sent From Heaven things, which Angels desire to look into Peter said Angels. The Salvation, the preaching of the Gospel that the Angels desire to look into it and other words. They are intrigued by salvation. So number to Angels rejoice in Salvation, but cannot receive it. Well, let's go to the truth number 3. And that is simply this Angels minister to Believers in death. But they can never die. Now. A lot of people have, are probably surprised to discover that angel really do have a part in carrying Believers to heaven when they die. Now, we have learned this. From from The Story of Lazarus. Now, let's look at it and Luke 16 and verse 22. Now watch this and I remember the Story of Lazarus and the beggar and and the beggar and Lazarus both died. Remember, let's see what the Bible says. So it was that the beggar died and was carried by the angel to Abraham's bosom. So the beggar died was carried by angels to the Abraham duck, but the rich man also died and was buried. So you see that the beggar died and it was the Angels themselves. To carried him up to heaven. And also noticed since when Jesus ascended into heaven, the Bible says, he was carried up into heaven. Well, who would carry him to have? It will probably, it was the angel who came and carried him to heaven. So, we see in .3 here, that Angels minister to Believers in death. When a Believer dies. It seems that God will send his Entourage of angels. And they will escort us to heaven, where we will meet the Lord in. So that's something. And some of you may have seen people who had, you know, death experiences laying on their deathbed and sometimes they'll look up and people have said that they they see angels in the corner of the room. They may raise their hand. As if, you know, to tell you that they see. Something will probably want these. People see at least as as if they are believers in Christ is they see the angels of the Lord coming to Usher them into the presence of the Lord. So Angels minister to Believers in death, but they can never die. They are Immortal and I remember in Luke 22:36 what it says in this is talking about those who are saved those who are going to be part of the Resurrection. Look what the Bible says, it says, nor can they die anymore because of the Resurrection. For they are equal to the angels and our sons of God being sons of the Resurrection. So it says that we will never die anymore will never die anymore because of the resurrection and it says here because they are equal to the angels because we will never die anymore. We're equal to the angels switch. Tell us the Angels never die themselves. Well, let's move on to truth number for and that is simply this Angels rescue. Some of us. And reassure. The rest of us. Now what am I saying here? What this is? This is kind of been helpful to me. So let's ask a question. Should we expect angels to intervene in our lives? Should I assume that they will always be there to rescue me from danger and trouble. Well, if you go through scripture, you'll see that angels have a decent record of rescues in the Bible. That is quite impressive. But sometimes the Angels do not rescue. Sometimes they allow trouble. And after the trouble or in the midst of that trouble, they Minister and strengthen Us in the process. Now, the writer of Hebrews reminds us that this is one of the most important Ministries, angels have, and that is to sustain those who are believers. Now, look at how Hebrews says this and Hebrews 1 for speaking of angels. Are they not all ministering Spirits sent forth to minister for those, who will inherit salvation. So, you see the help and reassurance of angels, they're not for everybody. They're only for those who will inherit salvation, only for those who are believers, but it says, aren't they all sent forth to minister to those. So sometimes the angels will rescue us. All you have to do is go through the Bible to the Old Testament and the New Testament. And you can see where I Angels rescue. Remember, Peter was in prison and he was going to be killed the next day and the angel come and not to change off of an open, the door and told paper Peter to get out of Dodge. He said, you need to get out of here and that's the end. He rescued Peter, but then you'll see when Jesus went into the Wilderness for it to be tempted of Satan for 40 days. The Angels didn't rescue Jesus from that. The Bible says that when Jesus had defeated, the Temptation said that Satan left and then it says the Angels Came and ministered to him so they didn't stop the Temptation. They didn't rescue him from it, but they ministered to him after the Temptation. Think of Gethsemane. When Jesus was sweating, great drops of blood. The Bible says, in emotional just emotionally distraught, what happened. He said will not my will but your will be done. And then the Bible says and the angels, And strengthened him. They didn't rescue him from Yosemite. If they had, then we would have never had a savior who died for our sins know. They allow him to go through it. But as when he was going through that the Angels Came and ministered to him. So what we need to see here is that Angels rescue. Some of us and they reassure the rest of us. So what are we saying? So far, Angels render worship, but they never receive it weird to never worship Angels at all. Probably why they're invisible Angels rejoice in Salvation, but they can never receive it. They rejoice when someone is saved, but they can experience it Number Three, Angels minister to the Believers in death, but they themselves could never die. So they come and Usher us into the presence of the Lord and then Angels rescue. Some of us like they did Peter. But then they, Minister and reassure the rest of us. Well, let's move on to truth number 5. And that is simply this angels in white are not necessarily angels of light. Now, what do I mean by that? Well, if you read your Bible, Angels often appear in white like white apparel. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they are the Angels of light. You see Mary saw two angels and they were in white her experience. Is that of most who have seen Angels, it seems like the angels are clothed in some type of majestic, brilliant white, but God's angels in white. Are not to be confused with some who are the Angels of light. You say. Well, what are you? What are you talkin about? We'll look at it. Here in 2nd Corinthians, 11:14 and 15. I watch this. And no wonder for Satan himself, transforms himself into an angel of Light. In other words. Satan himself can look like an angel of Light, and then it goes on to say, therefore, it is no great thing. If his ministers also transform themselves into Ministers of righteousness, who's in will be according to their works. So we see here, that sometimes, Satan can transform himself into an angel of Light. He can look bright and he can look brilliant. You see. Satan is the master deceiver and he is the master imitator, and he can take something so ugly and make it look so good. So bright. So like he can transform himself into an angel of life. And it says here, Even his ministers. And when I think about this, I think his ministers in the Pulpit. Who can transform themselves into Ministers of righteousness? Yet. They preach a false gospel. Another gospel. I'm thinking of the Prosperity Gospel preachers. I'm thinking of those who do not believe in the Miracles of Christ. Do not believe that Christ. Walked this Earth in The Flash and they can get up in the pulpit and they can transform themselves into Ministers of righteousness, Ministers of light and friends. That's why we have to be careful. We have to know what the Bible teaches on every subject that we get into, so that we will not be deceived by Satan and his ministers. So, just remember as .5 says here, angels in white are not necessarily angels. Of light. So number 6, Christ, commands, thousands. And speaking of angels Christ commands thousands But never summoned one. In other words, the Lord commands thousands of angels, but if you read in the scripture, he never summon one to Aid him in his Earthly life. No. Remember we already looked at Revelation, 511. John said he looked and heard the voice of many angels around the four throne. And remember, he said, the number of them was 10000 * 10000 +, 1000 of thousands, all of those angels and yet not one of these, was someone to help Jesus, Jesus never summon, not a single one of them matter fat. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 26, he says, or do you think that I cannot? Now pray to my father and he will provide me with more than Twelve Legions of angels and other. He said, don't you think if I wanted to, I can call down 72000 angels and they would come and help me right now, but yet he never summon one, but he commands. Thousands all of them because he's the creator of them truth. Number seven. And that is simply this. One Angel May destroy 185,000 enemies of God, one night and eat dinner with you. The next night. Now, you say, what in the world are you talking about? They're well, the task in the ministries of angels are many and their varied. And in the Bible, there was one Angel who destroyed a hundred and eighty-five thousand enemies of Israel enemies of God in one night. Now, let's read that passage 2nd Kings 19 35, and this is what it said. And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out and killed in the camp of the Assyrians 185,000. And when people arose early in the morning there, where the corpse is all dead. Not think about this, the angel of the Lord, which we've already talked about this, Angel of the Lord, probably a pre-incarnate appearance of Christ. This Angel of the Lord went out one night when the shares were camped around the Israelis and they were going to plunder them. This Angel went out and killed a hundred and eighty-five thousand Assyrians in one night. This Angel did that. And then we turn to what Hebrews 13:2 says it says. Do not forget to entertain strangers, invite them in your home. Give them a meal for by. So doing some have unwittingly or unknowingly entertained. Angels. The Bible says be sure that that you're nice and you are hospitable to strangers because you never know. You may be entertaining Angels. Maybe some of us has entertained angels, before, of course, in a human appearance, not with wings or anyting. But we've entertained angels and did not even know it. You see the Ministries? Our angels are very great one. Angel may go out and kill 185000 enemies of God one night in the next night, sit in your home and have dinner with you. So we have to be careful there. And we have to understand that their Ministries are varied and God can use them in any way that he sees fit. Well, let's move on. We're coming to the EIN. Number 8 that we need to remember about angels and that is simply this one. Angel will announce it here. I'm talkin about the rapture. But all the angels will accompany in there. I'm talking about the second coming. So let's look at this and 1st Thessalonians 4 and 16. Now, this is speaking of the Rapture, the Rapture of the church. This is occurs before the second coming since for the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ will rise first. So when the Lord comes the Rapture of the church, he will descend from heaven with a shout Hill beyond the clouds. His feet will not touch the Earth. He'll be up in the air and it says, he'll come with the voice of an archangel. So, all believers will hear that trumpet? And they will hear that voice of the Archangel but not only that his second coming. When the church comes back with him to set up his kingdom on earth. Look what the Bible says, in Matthew 16:27, for the son of man will come in the glory of his father. With his angels and then he will reward each according to his works. Well, one thing that we would have to see it, say if we doing this whole study of angels, is the angels are mysterious. They sometimes can be beyond our understanding but they're also Majestic. They're like no other creature on earth. That's probably why they're invisible. Cuz if they wouldn't, we probably worship them. Angels are Mighty. They are God's special agents and that's why I said you have to be very careful. If you have a worldly view, or if you look at the art that is made the drawings, the paintings of angels. And you'll see these little blonde hair, blue-eyed, boys, and girls sitting on clouds with a harp or something like that. Friends. That's that's not the Bible's depiction of Angels, at all, if you think about the Bible's depicts, Angels they're kind of like .7, there's some more like military of Fighters and Warriors and then there's some who may sit and encourage you and eat dinner with you one night. So let's be careful not to follow the world's view of what angels look like in this. Have a Biblical view of it. So they're Mighty and they're also ministers. They they reach out to God's people and of course as a series stated their Messengers, they bring good news from Heaven. Well, we have two more points and we'll be finished. Truth number 9 that I want you to remember and it's this only male angels are mentioned by name in the Bible. Now, I'm not saying that there's no female angels. If someone pushed me on it, I would probably say, well, I'm sure there's female angels but they're never mentioned in the bible. Only two, angels are mentioned in the Bible by name and that is Michael and Gabriel. And if you remember their Ministries, Gabriel was one who who brought a ton of messages from God and he was kind of the announcer. Now, it's the Zachariah, the birth of John the Baptist and out to Mary that she would have a baby and call his name. Jesus where Michael is more of the fighter and the warrior in it, in the Bible says that he was in conflict with Satan. So he's the more fighter in war over Gabriel Zamora of the announcer, but only male, angels are mentioned by name in the Bible. Are there female? Angels? I do not know. So I had to guess, I would say probably so since there's no onions and millions and millions of them. But only male angels are mentioned by name in the Bible and then truth number 10, and I want to put this up on the screen and I want you to look at this very closely because this right here is one of the reasons. One of the main reasons that I decided to do a series on Angels, because of a certain belief that many people have, and, and many people to have, this belief are Christians. And so, I want you to look at this one carefully. Number 10, when Believers or children, go to heaven. They do not become Angels or earn their wings. Now the main reason that I put this point up is because if you read on the Internet or newspaper Facebook or anything like that, you'll see that when children die or even adults die that many times people will write in something. Well, Heaven has one more angel or maybe a child or die and this this child has earned their wings or friend. This right here. It comes from a secular view of angelology. That this is just not true. When Believers die Angels become and Usher us into heaven, but we do not become angels. We don't Sprout wings as far as the secular media would have, you believe and we don't learn anything. Our Salvation is a gift from God. It is by God's grace and it is through faith. And really, the faith that we have estate, that was given to us by God. Anyway, if we would, if we didn't, if he hadn't given us to Faith, none of us would be safe. So it's all about God. We don't become an angel where a person on Earth and when we die, our body goes into the grave or Spirit goes to be with the Lord. And then at the Rapture, our body comes up and meets our spirit in the air and forever. We will be with the Lord. We're not going to become an angel when we get to heaven. Remember Angels. God create. Them all at once. Pacific time and they are Immortal. They never die. So humans cannot become angels and we certainly not going to earn their wings Cosmos. Angels don't have wings. Anyway, at least the Bible doesn't say so maybe the cherubim and seraphim, who were Guardian Angels, it talked about, they had six wings here before we hear or something. But this whole mentality that the secular media has on Angels is it's just wrong. And I put this up here so that, you know, that we can see this and that we would never speak as Believers as if people become Angels, when they die or that they earned their wings. That's just a fallacy there. Let's recap. What are we saying about angels that we should believe in a course, there's a lot more than 10, but I'll just use 10 today number one, Angels render worship, but they never receive it. We need to understand that that we are never to worship Angels at all there just fell asleep. Like, we are number two, angels rejoice in Salvation, but they cannot receive. When one of us on Earth. We're save, do they have a party in heaven? They just love it. They desire to look into it. They are intrigued by salvation, but they can't receive it Point Number Three, Angels Minister Believers in death, but they can never die. Angels are a moron. That's what I just said and they come and get us. It seems and Usher us into heaven. When a Believer dies Angels rescue. Some of us just like they did Peter and just like many times and Old Testament they rescue some of us but they Minister and reassure the rest of us. Sometimes they may not rescue. But they will minister to us and encourage Us number five. Angels and white are not necessarily angels of light. Remember, Satan can transform himself into an angel of Light. So you have to be very Discerning about what you hear and what you see. And you have to see if I say it to myself to yourself. Is this biblical here? Is this, the pattern of the Bible here? Or is this something that Satan maybe is deceiving me with number 6, Christ, He commands all of them me as an angel, but he never summoned a single one to help him. Always remember that Angels made destroy someone night and they could be sitting at your dinner table. The next night eating with you and remembering the second coming in. The Rapture one will announce but all will accompany. And then only male angels are mentioned in the Bible. And then, of course number 10, when we go to heaven. We do not become angels, and we do not earn our wings. Well, I hope this series have meant a lot to you. I hope you learn some things. I know that I did as I study and we look forward to getting back together again in the next week or so, and we will start a new series. Thank you for being here today and let me close this in word of prayer. Father. We thank you today, for your love and your grace and your mercy. Lord. We thank you today that we were able to go through this study on Angels Lord. We've learned so much and Lord help us to just understand that we're going to exalt you and your name for you, are the creator of everything, you created angels to minister to you in heaven and on Earth and minister to us. Thank you, Lord, for these special creatures that you have created. Help us to have a Biblical view of angels and a Biblical view of you, Lord and the teachings of the Bible. In Christ name. I do pray. Amen.
