Thrive / Not Just Survive
SLIDE 2
18 “Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
19 “Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.
Israel has been in captivity
It had been for their own good
Taken out of His environment - immersed into the world
SLIDE 3
I have redeemed you
I called you by name- My servant
I will be with you- do not fear
I am the Lord your God
The Holy One of Israel- your Savior
You are precious in My sight
Promises of God given to the prophet Isaiah
Would all respond in the same way
What a blessing to have the examples of Israel before us
We all believe the word of God and promises of God are true
70 years is a long time (so comparable to our times / immersed in the world, stand strong and fight to stay in the presence of God)
Even Israel traveling out of Egypt in the wilderness 1 generation passed
Everyone of these people were not immune to two things
SLIDE 4
Choice / Attitude
SLIDE 5
Attitude / Choice
Choice / Attitude
Try to put yourself in these same places
How would yours and my attitude and choice look in comparison?
How just one’s attitude or choice affected the tribes?
How difficult it then became for the leaders and prophets
We are promised troubling times in our lives
SLIDE 6
33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
Jesus informed them they would be scattered, each to his own home, His physical presence would soon no longer be with them.
He says, “You will have times of trouble, take courage, in Him we will have peace, He overcame the world.
The problem is not you and me, its the world, we make our problem problem attitude and choice in this world
In Jesus we can have peace - He overcame the world
Jesus shows it a attitude and choice, look again at the passage
SLIDE 7
John 16:33 (NASB95)
33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
What comes first attitude or choice?
God has given us every promise in His word through His Son of His love, His presence, His care, everything needed in life.
SLIDE 8
28 “I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.”

Lets look at a few more passages
SLIDE 10
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
SLIDE 11
13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.
14 “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
SLIDE 12
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
God’s word always settles everything Isaiah 30 tells us we will here a word behind us saying this is the way, walk in it
I feel from God’s word Attitude and Choice are the same
John Maxwell said this
“Attitude, to me, is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you… We are in charge of our attitudes.”
