Our focus should not be the fruit on our branches but the depth of our roots. As we live deeply with Jesus, the fruit will take care of itself.

Proverbs
The New International Version Chapter 4
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
Luke
The New International Version (Chapter 8)
4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

The New International Version (Chapter 8)
11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.

-third is among thorns which like some things in life could seem harmless…but the reality is they will ultimately choke them out because the thorns will grow faster and survive through harsher things

If we fail to listen, we fail to learn, and if we fail to learn we fail to receive and give the love of Christ.
If we fail to listen, we fail to learn, and if we fail to learn we fail to receive and give the love of Christ.

The New International Version (Chapter 9)
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”23 “ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

The New International Version (Chapter 17)
7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.Who can understand it?10 “I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language (Chapter 36)
I’ll pour pure water over you and scrub you clean. I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands.
Jesus wants to give you a fresh start, a new heart, and roots that will lead to righteous fruit.
