Review

‘Jesus walks on water
the people wanted Jesus to give them a sign so they can believe
the people wanted the living bread. Not realizing that Jesus is that bread.
‘Jesus say that He is the bread of life
those who believe in Him will never be hungry
salvation comes through Jesus Christ. And He only.
.
John 6:41–58 NASB95
41 Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, “I am the bread that came down out of heaven.” 42 They were saying, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 46 “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48 “I am the bread of life. 49 “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 “This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. 51 “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” 52 Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 “For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 “This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.”

Frustration, Questioning and discrediting

v.41-42

John 6:41–42 NASB95
41 Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, “I am the bread that came down out of heaven.” 42 They were saying, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?”
The Jews were already upset about what he said. That he was the bread that comes from Heaven
They are questioning “how can he say this?”
Then they look to discredit Him.
This is Jesus who......
See
See that they are questioning Him with Him saying that Salvation comes thru Him,
but didn't when He is doing miracles
No groaning when they were watching these acts take place, or eating.
But once Jesus started teaching, they questioned.
are we looking for simply Christian entertainment of Biblical foundation?

Jesus answers

v. 43-44

John 6:43–45 NASB95
43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.
Jesus knows of the anger and grumbling of the Jews.
Jesus is also telling them who He is.
Exodus 16
Exodus 16:7 NASB95
7 and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, for He hears your grumblings against the Lord; and what are we, that you grumble against us?”
The Jews, even back to Moses were grumbling.
Jesus is telling them to STOP.
Our Salvation does not come in our own doing.
God draws us to Christ.
How does this work???
The Father draws us near.
explain

V.46-4

John 6:46–47 NASB95
46 “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.
Jesus again shows His position as God.
Truly truly, meaning “I’m telling you the truth”
The one who believes will have eternal life

Jesus is the Bread of Life

V. 48-50

John 6:48–50 NASB95
48 “I am the bread of life. 49 “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 “This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.
Jesus again says I AM,
He reminds the Jews that there fathers ate manna fron heaven and stilled died.
materialistic
Life does come from the bread that they eat.
Jesus is the bread that gives life.

V.51-52

John 6:51–52 NASB95
51 “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” 52 Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?”
Hear is something......
Unbelief never understands the mysteries of God
Jesus is talking of spiritual things, there focus on material things

V.53-55

John 6:53–55 NASB95
53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 “For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.
Jesus is not talking about cannibalism
He is talking about the intensive relationship that His follower must have with Him.
Jesus is spiritual food and drink.
If one does not eat or drink, there body shuts down and they die
without Jesus as Lord of your life, your spirit will shut down
your spirit will die.

V.56-58

John 6:56–58 NASB95
56 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 “This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.”
to have a intimate relationship with Jesus id the abide (stay) in Him
Jesus saying that Him and the Father are living.
Jesus says that he was the bread that came from heaven.
But it is not the bread the the Jews ate and died, but in Him we will have eternal life.
‘Jesus is saying that they are blessed because they have the Son
if Jesus was sitting here right now…………..
