Colossians 2:8 - 3:4
Recap of last few verses.
We have established what Christ has made us.
rooted, built up, established, and abounding in thanksgiving through Christ.
The people of Colossae would recognize circumcision as common place for many people at this time.
The gentile Christians had no need to conform to Jewish rules and regulations.
Paul is telling them that Christ has circumcised our hearts!
The “putting off” in Greek is apekdysei.
It is the only time it is used in the New Testament and it signifies us totally breaking away from sin at salvation.
Just as Christ was buried, so were we.
All our sin, all our transgressions were buried with Christ.
There is nothing too big for Christ!
It is time for us to realize that we have been made different through Christ.
We are NO LONGER THE SAME PERSON.
We have been cleansed of our sin.
Imagine all the sin in your life on one sheet of paper.
Sin, Lust, Greed, Lying, Apathy, Guilt, Adultery, Selfishness, Pride
Paid For By the Blood of Jesus Christ!
Look at how people view Christ today.
Do not let the world define who you are.
Christianity has become a big checklist of do’s and don’ts.
