why do we fear death?
why do we fear death?
1 Cor 15:55-57 ““O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Death = fear for most people, yet it should be joy for us lets look at what God’s words have to say here about it.
1. Death is defeated,
If death is defeated, why then must we die at all?
2. Death is there as a punishment for sin?
Punishment for breaking the laws of God.
3. Death is defeated in Christ who gives after life for eternity for those who call on him.
4. However you are guaranteed to die in the flesh, so why fear it? It is going to come, and only God knows when that will be.
1. Although you must die, it is defeated.
1 cor 15:55
hosea 13: 14 “I shall ransom them from the power of Sheol; I shall redeem them from Death. O Death, where are your plagues? O Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion is hidden from my eyes.”
Who got the last word, oh, Death?
Oh, Death, who’s afraid of you now?
You see we need not fear death. unless we don’t have Jesus within.
Why are so many people afraid of Covid?
Is it because of sickness?
No its because of death that could happen from it.
The same death that could happen from any other disease. So why then are we so worried about it with this one?
Because we are told it will kill you, and no one wants to die right?
2. If death is defeated? Why then are we so afraid of it?
1 cor 15:56 “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.”
Maybe its because we know we still have sin in us and we don’t want to chance being punished for it.
But if we have called on Jesus we should no longer fear this death
