4 minutes? Usain Bolt 8 minutes was culmination of 20-30 years of training.
We are what we eat
We are what we eat
Proverbs 18:21 “21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
What goes in, will come out - Our actions and words reveal our hearts. Guard your speech.
James 3:8 “8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.”
What does this mean? Do you agree? How is a tongue poisonous? Why can’t we tame the tongue? Where does poison come from? (Next)
Matthew 12:34 “34 Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.”
We repeat what we hear. Can you think of examples of this? Sports loyalties. Parents=kids (Defending). What else? How does what we say as a church affect those we are speaking to?
Make sure you’re eating good food
Make sure you’re eating good food
Philippians 4:8 “8 Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things.”
Reciprocal: Don’t dwell on things just to make yourself angry. If you can’t control it, what good does it do? Examples? Politics.
Make sure your kids are eating good food
Proverbs 22:6 “6 Start a youth out on his way; even when he grows old he will not depart from it.”
Be careful what you say to your kids (Elyse Meyers)
Importance of repetition (7/11 music)
Be careful what you expose them to (Careful little ears)
Be kind to yourself - You talk to you most
Be kind to yourself - You talk to you most
Your inner monologue goes a long way into determining who you are, and how you’ll interact with others.
How do you think about yourself?
Proverbs 19:8 “8 The one who acquires good sense loves himself; one who safeguards understanding finds success.”
Do you dwell on past mistakes?
Isaiah 43:18-19 “18 “Do not remember the past events; pay no attention to things of old. 19 Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
When you make a mistake, are you able to more forward or do you dwell on it?
You are made perfectly by God!
1 Peter 2:9 “9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
Psalm 139:14 “14 I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.”
Love yourself because Jesus loves you.
1 John 4:19 “19 We love because he first loved us.”
Speak Life
Speak Life
James 1:19 “19 My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,”
Every time you interact with someone, you choose how you will impact them, including yourself.
