Intro
The same way I’ve always attempted to picture Heaven, I have always wanted to taste Manna.
Just looking at me, you can probably guess, I enjoy my carbs.
But what about those carbs from Heaven.
Based on its description in Exodus, It sounds like it was melt in your mouth good.
But like many good tasting things it is said the Children of Israel grew tired of it.
A couple years I was watching one of the classrooms at eddlemon enjoy a treat for lunch, celebrating a birthday.
It was Vanilla cupcakes!
I asked, one of the kids, (who shall remain nameless), Do you like the cupcakes?
The answer was, “I wish it was chocolate.”,
then another child chimed in…yeah I don’t like vanilla, I wish it was chocolate.
Hey everyone is picky about something…me I am not to keen on Zucchini, still likely because of a bad experience with casserole whose main ingredient was the vegetable in question.
I guess I haven’t moved past that experience as an 8 year old.
But the experience of the Israelites is an interesting one.
Cursed to wander the desert following their failure to enter the promised land following their captivity in Egypt…they naturally wondered how they could be sustained.
I can’t imagine, leaders Moses and Aaron, not having their own wonderments as to how to lead a nation through such circumstances.
But God’s presence was evident .
Through miracles such as the plagues in Egypt, being freed from captivity, and the parting of the Red Sea, as well as His presence as a cloud and pillar of fire.
God had made it clear they were not abandoned.
This Manna God was providing daily served as a test and reminder to the people to trust in God.
Among the tests, were obedience to His instructions.
