Though the whole word has gone mad we can still be joyfull in spreading the Gospel.
Though the whole word has gone mad we can still be joyfull in spreading the Gospel.
Romans 1 gives us a despription of our world. We are surrounded by wickedness on all sides.
Canadian law prohibiting conversion thereapy. Several states in nAmerica have similar laws. It would appear that our society wants to keep sexual sin protected and not allow churches to reach the current generation with the truth. Rather, they want this generation to be held in bondage to their dark hearts. This truth is all around us today and escaping its message is almost impossible.
Join me in a quick survey of Rom 1 as Paul begins his revealing of God’s opinon of man as a whole. We will work a little out of order.
Man is blind spiritually. ( 18-25)
Man is blind spiritually. ( 18-25)
A. They cannot see the reality of their condition. (v18-20)
B. The foolishness of pride is in their hearts. (v 21-22)
C. They debased God by their actions. (v 23-25)
What a commentary on man by God but there is no denying this truth. This is not all for us to consider-
Rebellion against God leads to sure judgment. (26-32)
Rebellion against God leads to sure judgment. (26-32)
A. They rebel against God’s design. (v 26-27)
B. Their sin has developed into a hatred of God. (28-31)
C. They have no fear of God. (v32)
This is the condition of the lost world. They are blind and they have leaders who are also blind so they end up in a ditch.
How then can we joyfully proclaim the truth of God in a world like this? Because our message is a soul saving, life changing, earth shattering message of victory. Christ came to save sinners!! Notice with me as we go backwards a little-
The joyful blessings of the Gospel. (v 1-17)
The joyful blessings of the Gospel. (v 1-17)
A. Our message is about Jesus. (v 1-5)
He is God’s son and the Saviour. He has the spirit of holiness because He arose from the dead. He can give you the grace you need.
B. Our method is to work together. (v11-12)
As Paul longed to see his fellow believers so should we long to come together. As we labor as ambassodors of reconcilliation we don’t have to do it alone. We have each other and we gather around our mutual faith which encourages each other, strengthens each other and teaches each other. We live in a world that is to wicked to try and live in it alone as a child of God.
C. Our mandate is to be ready to tell the story. (v 15-17)
Paul was ready because he was not ashamed to be niumbered with Christ. This world will try to shame you by saying you are judging others. Better me than God!! The Gospel can free someone from the bondage of sin if they believe it. The Gospel carries the rightousness of God in it. The Gospel is a blessing to those who tell it and to those who believe it!
Application:
The truth of God’s Word should drive you to dive into it.
We as a church must work together to spread the Gospel.
Pray for those trapped in the sin of homosexuality and all types of sin.
