1 Samuel 16:7

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

“The Lord looks on the heart!”

This is the cry of the carnal and the lost.

Four types of “Christians“

Christlike

Carnal

Counterfeit

Which one are you?

Now when God looks inside He sees two things:

A very dark, sinful heart.

a very dead spirit.

Speaking on the Ark of the Covenant, it’s what’s inside that counts.

I. Something Resembling The Scripture.

The Tables of Stone.

The place of It.

Deuteronomy 31:26-27

26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God…

The purpose of It.

…that it may be there for a witness against thee.

27 For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

II.

Something Resembling The Spirit.

The Rod of Aaron.

The flourishing of the Spirit of God.

Life where death once reigned.

Ephesians 2:1–3 (AV)

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

The fruit of the Spirit of God.

Results where there is no ability.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is

love,

joy,

peace,

longsuffering,

gentleness,

goodness,

faith,

23 Meekness,

temperance:

against such there is no law.

III.

Something Resembling The Saviour.

The Pot of Manna.

Jesus is the bread of life.

Here are the uses of bread:

It is to be served.

It is to be satisfactory.

You will never see any bread bakery/business promising there’s is the worst.
