Verse 1

In what ways should we rejoice in the Lord? How often?
Lit., Rejoice in vital connection with the Lord; i.e., bc you are God’s, REJOICE! Also, bc of all that God has done for you and around you.
What are some things you ought to repeat for the benefit of other disciples?
The Gospel -
Death, Burial, Resurrection;
Repentance, Immersion, New Creatures;
Reconciliation, Forgiveness, Mercy

Verses 2-11

Who are the “dogs” Paul warns about?
dogs = evildoers = those who mutilate the flesh
Who are the “dogs” to guard against today?
Direct application? Merciless Legalists who bind what scripture does not.
What confidence in the flesh do we cling to? And what would it look like to “count them as rubbish?”
